Need Oil Change/ Lube Advice

Not sure on all this. The 3000 mile rule started years ago from petro industry. Why because it depends. It depends on driving conditions(dusty-clean) Depends on oil capacity 4 quarts compared to 5, 6, 7, 8 quarts etc. The more quarts the better. Longer lasting. Warm climate compared to cold? Basically the difference in engine oil tempreture. Starting a car at 10 degrees is harder then starting it at 60 degrees. Mobile one is a good syn, I think amsoil is better qualities for luberication. I do know GM is reviewing their algorythems , with mobil one because Mobile does not load their engines in the test or under strain. Rule of thumb is 6 million revs per quart. Synt las longer about 20-30 percent. Your driving 700 miles in 6 months I would say any oil in 5w-30 -10w-30 class would work for a year 40 weight has in mineral base more parefins(wax) in oil. Shore car or something you truely like amsoil, mobil in synth. I would suggest looking at both their websights! Hope this helps.

Or you could just be like me and leak out a quart every couple of days... the last 2 months my motor has seen 7 quarts of oil. YAY.

After 6 months and only 700 hi-way miles since last oil change and lube on my garage queen, do i need to change and lube again now:confused: i checked the oil and its very clean......but in the past ive heard of 3000 miles or 3 months:confused: for next change....
I use use regular oil - go ahead and change it. After all it's been 6 months.
Synthetic blend - could wait another couple months.
Pure synthetic oil - 12 months or 10k miles max.

Note that I use fully synthetic (Used Castrol Syntec in the past, and currently using Mobil 1 5W20), and change oil every 3750 miles (oil sensor is showing 50% oil life remaining), and then change it again when sensor is showing 5% oil life remaining. This helps me gets maximum performance out of oil. Mobil 1, or KNN Gold oil filter.

Its my front main seal + others. Its cheaper to get a new motor then to fix. So im going to ride it out till it blows.

Back on to oil AMSOIL and Royal purple are both good oils in my view. That and mobile 1 full syn. It’s the only crap I put in my motor. (And how dose it thank me? By leaking it all out...)

Bill...I use Mobil 1 extended synthetic oil...I go 10,000 between changes...I change the filter at 5000...I use either a Pure 1 filter or a Wix Gold...and when I do a drain it looks very good...I do a oil analasyst at 5000 miles and it comes back perfect...the real trick to keeping oil working is good air filter that does fine filtering and get all the fine dust particles that work as a abrasive...I use either a Pure 1 air filter or a baldwin surpreme...both are rated in the top filters...K&N is not a good filter...it does not filter the fine silica dust..thats abrasive as hell...

So I think you can go a little longer with your oil...LOL....

OH NO I have a K&N filter, and I thought they're good cause they don't have to be replaced, just cleaned with the cleaning kit :p. How'd you find out Pure 1 filters fine silica dust? Well, I don't know what silica dust is but I would want to have a filter that filters EVERYTHING out.
