Since there are plent of car guys on here I figured I'd ask here as well. I'm having paint issue with the roof of my car. A complete repaint of the car is out of the question, the past 2 weeks I've worked 5 1/2 days so no can do. A long term solution would be to paint the coupe part and completely change the look of the car at the same time. So tell me what you think of this paint scheme. Thanks.

Here is a real picture to see how it would really look painted black. Use your imagination and put my white rims on this car, and my brake light bezels are painted black.

So you're saying repaint just the roof black? Looks like a rag top, not saying it looks bad at all. What would you do where the white and black meet in the rear area? You could have the roof repainted any color and have the same raised seam where the new and old paint meet. Pin stripe over the seam?

They don't meet at all, they are separate body panels. The "Sails" are removable/replaceable. There is a small gap (maybe 1/16 of a gap with a small black seal that seperate the sail from the rear quarter panels.

Since they're separate panels I would do the same. I had a black car, never again. Too hot, too hard to care for. As far as looks, I like it.
Just me talking, the black roof looks good, I just wouldn't want the upkeep of black.

While the black roof will look good, I think I would prefer the all white look which you probably have now.
Maybe you could post a picture with the car all white.
The picture before you did the photo-shop work would make a great comparison.

Then, after all the comments, do what you like best. :D

Dont really like it on that body style.

I think it looks pretty tough and has some attitude.........try adding black to the ground effects at the bottom of the car....just to see how it would even out the look of the car or balance of color........from lower back bumper to front bumper.

I do prefer the all white, but that's just me.
Like I said, the black roof does look good.
It would be an easy decision for me, but it could certainly be argued both ways.

It does seem that you are leaning towards the black roof, so that's probably what you should go with.

Something that hasn't been discussed.
What kind of "paint issues" are you having?
Maybe you could get by with a blended spot repair and just reclear the whole roof.

It's some what common on 94/95 car, our roof's have very thin paint and after yrs of wear and tear the begin to chip off or the clear coat starts to peel. Mine the paint is chipping off and rust is starting to form. So I have 2 choices for an instant fix.
1. Paint the roof white again (white I do like) and have it whiter then the rest of the car (would really erk me)
2. Paint it black and little by little add the necessary accents to make it work.
Example: Of making it work with accents/mods needed

I like the look with the glossy black roof....as long as the roof IS glossy and not a matte.

hmm...unfortunately i don't like it at all.

i'm very curious why it couldn't be taken down, primered and refinished to match the rest of the car? i noticed you listed that as an option, but said it'd be 'whiter' than the rest of the car.

why would it 'whiter'?

maybe i'm missing something, which wouldn't be a surprise hehe.

LOL arse and it's a 5.0 not a 4.6.
why would it 'whiter'?
13 yr old paint and 1 day old (or 1 yr old) paint just isn't going to blend in. I've had my rear bumper replaced and it's whiter or brighter I should say then the rest.

i thought that's what you were thinking hehe...

IMO, it should be able to be matched, despite the age of the surrounding finish. there is alot of tinting that can be done to match aged colors. it really depends on the technology and training of the shop, and of course their paint system.

paint codes can have a TON of tinted variants.

i'd find someone who will guarantee (within reason) that it will match, or atleast a satisfaction guarantee...
