Need some advice on job offer

Your going from working for yourself to working for someone else.

I'd say contract the jobs out and have him pay you per job not hourly.

Start your own business PERIOD!! Much of the income you make can be written off as a business expense as long as it meets the IRS rules. If you do start your own business GET INSURANCE to cover any damage that could possibly go wrong if you are working on a vehicle.

You are young and can take the risk.

As for taxes, if you have a good CPA or someone knowledgeable about taxes that would be the least thing I would worry about.

My current business is mainly cash and credit card and I do not worry about the taxes. I worry about getting the business to pay the taxes and be happy as my own boss.

If you are busy and you are making more income than taxes albeit important, will not be a big concern.

BUT I SAY DO IT!!! You do not have to have some idiot boss telling you what to do.

If this guy hires you I would take that. Additionally, I would still set up your business as a back up plan if things did not work out.

That is just me

If he is doing all the other stuff, and your his employee...my question is why is he not treating you like an employee and doing all the tax stuff just like BB is doing for you today????

Ok, so most people may have not seen my post. I got in touch with him and went over my concerns. He told me if I wanted to do a W-2 and be an employee we could absolutely do that. And if I wanted to be paid under the table so to speak and then just do taxes at the end as if I were self employed we could do that to. So that isn't an issue anymore. Being that he will take care of taxes pretty much made my mind up. So I bit the bullet and put my 2 weeks in at BestBuy.

Second, this is something that could catapult me into managers spot when he does open up his detailing shop. Then on the side I'm also going to keep doing my thing where I do a car every now and again and just build up a clientele. And one day hopefully I will get enough work that I can branch off and do my own thing. But as of now this is way more income then what I make now. And it will give me a good chance to perfect my skills.

As far as cameras go, I have a Sony 5R which is a really nice compact system camera. I will probably pick up a go pro before my last day even though I don't think we get much off of them lol

5 finger discount ;)

Just kidding :p

This was a good episode

I agree that in can open new doors. You'll never know until you try it though, so go for it IMO and Congrats and Good Luck :xyxthumbs:

Make sure you don't get a non compete if he opens up a shop!
