I revived an old thread about static, but I need help now so I started a new thread. After using WG glaze, and wiping and buffing my vehicle has a lot of static. I read through several static threads. I can't ground the vehicle, next option was to use plain water over vehicle , did not really want to do that before the sealant. Next option I read is to use a qd as a wipe down. All I have is WG uber rinseless solution that I can make a qd out of. If I use this, will it leave anything behind that will prevent the sealant to bond? My vehicle has some dust from the glaze and lint from the MF towels that I am having a hard time removing. The more I try to take off the lint and dust the worse it gets.

Anytime you rub against paint, or most other materials, you'll get some level of static. I use a small air compressor to blow dust and other light items off my cars.

Ok I will try that. I thought air caused static too, but that seems the fastest and easiest right now since I have my compressor full of air any how.

You'll be amazed how much "stuff" will blow off the car using compressed air. It's especially helpful in getting the stuff outta nooks and crannies that wiping can't reach.

No need to go crazy with high pressure. Remember, you're just wiping the car down with air.

Why not try distilled water or a light IPA solution?

Air worked good except for the fine dust from the product. I just gave a very light rub. What is IPA? Still learning AG lingo?

Isopropyl alcohol (rubbing alcohol). Make like a 20-30% strength and it'll remove polishing oils and such making paint clean and ready for sealant.

When you say make 20-30%, do you mix it with something or do you mean buy it with that strength? I have seen the IPA roaming around threads. Now I know. Is it always necessary to do a IPA rub even if you products that work together. Like I used WG finishing glaze then followed by sealant. Per instructions.

I put the sealant on, just waiting for it to haze. I put it on too thick. Little goes a long way lesson learned. Less is more right? Lol

IPA usually comes as 70%. You can do maths to dilute it to 20% I just dilute 1:1 and get 35%. A little strong but you're trying to strip wax anyway

I see you made it through the process of applying your sealant.

As you have Wolfgang Über Rinseless Wash on hand, I would only mix it up to Rinseless wash solution (one oz to three gallons) if using for a panel wipe to remove the dusting. However I would only do this in a pinch.

Now that you are finished with your detail and have the time, I would pick up a product formulated for a panel wipe such as Wolfgang Perfekt Finish Paint Prep.

To help cut down on towel linting, I will iron mine out with a lint roller as they come out of the dryer.

I actually have a bottle of the WG perfekt paint prep that came with my WG coating that I plan on doing later in the year. So it seems I should of used that before the sealant then? It didn't say that in the instructions for using the sealant. I guess that is something you learn along the way with experience. There are so many products that it is hard to keep up. I try to do as much research and search for answers before I ask for help.

So the next time I do something like this, I would use the WG paint prep before any waxing or sealant, correct? Which prepares the paint for binding and help with my problem of dusting and lint.

My steps were,
Wash car

Nanomitt, did not use ironx. I had a bottle but for some reason did not use it.

WG finishing glaze, car is 2 years old and paint was in really good condition no swirls if you can believe that. Some minor scratches. Used GG6 with hydrotech crimson pads.

WG sealant. Applied way too much. Learning that less is more!

Still need to apply a wax since it is recommended. Will not be able to apply it for another week. Ran out of time. Don't know which wax to use.

Fuzion
Dp max
Pinnacle signature series II
Blackfire blackice
Pinnacle synergy.
Vehicle is a dark gray color. Crystal granite metallic.

Since you are sticking with the wolfgang family there is no need to use the paint prep prior to your sealant or wax.

If it were me I would just roll with the sealant and then do a sealant/wax in the spring or summer.

I still need to apply a coat of wax over the sealant. I do not need to use the paint prep before, correct. I can just apply the wax over it. The paint prep will just strip the sealant away? The paint prep is before any wax or sealant go on.

No need to apply a wax or anything else on top of WGDGPS

It is designed as a stand alone LSP

It looks great and performs very well, by itself
