Hello all,

I have all the PB products and a PC but I still like to use zaino and I have a few questions....

  • After I clay, and polish with ssr1 (very minor swirls) can I glaze then seal (EX) or should I seal then glaze.
  • Can I apply zaino on top of (EX) or the glaze?
  • Can I top zaino with anything (Natty's) etc..
Thanks

I wouldnt glaze before zaino, if youre looking to glaze to fill swirls z5 pro has filling ability.

If youre dead set on using a glaze, you can put down your zaino, then put #7 on top of that, then top it with a carnauba.

Zaino is a paint sealant, and thus needs a fresh finish. It will not adhere to waxes, glazes, nor polishes with fillers. You can however top Zaino with about anything. Some waxes like Souveran will make it look wetter and add some depth.

best go with a ipa/water wipe down after polishing and then use the zaino

topping zaino with a quality wax is deff the way to go imo

killrwheels,

I was also thinking about trying some of the zaino Z5, but in reading this post I noticed you say not to use the z5 over a polish, so what should I use to clean the paint to get it ready for the z5. I was thinking polish, then z5, then top with something, but obviously this would not be the right route to take? Thanks for the help.

Sorry, just re read the post and see that it says polishes with fillers, so I take it that I do need to use a polish to clean the paint, just make sure that it does not have fillers in it, is this correct?

What about AIO as a cleaner??

As Killer said Zaino needs a sterile surface to bond to..meaning no oils from polishes..you can do a wipe down after a polish and then use zaino...or you can use klasse AIO and use zaino on top...on the other forum with Zaino users..they have used AIO and topped with Zaino...

Also the EZ creme glaze from Chemical guys is a acrylic glaze with no oils and can be topped with zaino....

Also DG 921 can be used as a wipe down for Zaino...it is a cleaner and will remove polish oils....very simular to Z6..

but for best results on Zaino it has to be oil and wax free for optimum results..

the new Zaino product Clear Sealant seems to go over anything ..best to go to the Zaino page and read the Q&A section

Yes a very good versatile glaze....you can top this glaze with any sealer or wax.....

I've tried the new Z-AIO and Z-CS (Clear Seal)...my procedure was Z-AIO, Z5, then Z-CS back to back (no cure time necessary)...no zfx necessary. Looks great and you can optionally top the Z-CS after it cures with a carnauba or other LSP. The Z-CS is an interesting product...dries in 20-30 minutes, no buffing.

What about the Collinite Sapphire PreWax Cleaner #840 ? Would that be acceptable to use before the Zaino? I am just trying to figure out if I have something on the self that I can use, or if I need to order something new. If this will not work, I will probably order some DG 921, polish the truck with some WG polish that I have and then wipe it down. Again, thanks for the help.

Fog Runner....the Sapphire cleaner is for single stage paint

*Note: Collinite Liquid Sapphire PreWax Cleaner #840 is formulated for single stage paint finishes.

best for you to get a dedicated cleaner polish do the car up..and just wipe it down....AIO will do the trick...or what ever you have on hand thats a cleaner polish....

what ever you use.. just do a 921 wipe down and your set to go..

AL, thanks again for the help. I am just going to follow your advise and get some AIO, that will be simple enough, and a good addition to the collection.

your welcome...take your time..it will come out nice...don't forget to post your results after your done...

Good luck and have fun

I find when testing Zaino, it is easiest to use my fav polishes. I then do a quick wipe down with alcohol/water. Never had an issue, never any clouding, and always good results.

alot of zaino users are using 921 as Z6 and AW as Z8...seems to work for them

**I know Zaino is a sensitive subject on AG, but the thread seems to be flowing nicely**

I am currently doing some "testing" on my truck comparing using Zaino vs. Natty's Blue. I did the entire truck using SSR2.5 and SSR1. Then, I did a layer of Z1, and Z2 Pro. That's where the similarities stopped.

The hood and front fenders received Natty's Blue. The cab and bed received layers of Z2 Pro and Z5.

Results: I believe that the slickness lasts longer on the Natty's Blue. It's also easier to apply and easier to remove. As much as I love Zaino, that stuff always leaves slight dusting, which annoys me to no end.

Next time I'm doing the entire thing, it will be:

SSR2.5
SSR1
Z1
Z2 Pro
Z5
Natty's Blue

The results should be stellar!
