Need some knowledgable eyes on this spot

Hello, All!

First time poster, long time lurker. :-)

I noticed this spot on my car just the other day and am not sure what it is.

I have tried to gently rub it with a microfiber towel to see if it is some dried fluid of some sort, but it had no effect. I also tried to run a quick detail spray over it to no avail.

It reminds me of a similar spot my wife had on a dark colored car she had. If water sat on this spot, it would then cloud up and look like a 'water stain' from a glass on wood furniture varnish. Kind of reminds me of the way skin will leave a mark on glass.

Anyways, any ideas what it may be and if there is a way to remove it without having to dig in deep? Presumably some type of chemical was left behind?
 
Recently did a 6th Gen Camaro SS 1LE that had a similar issue, he mentioned other Camaro owners had these as well, I believe his had the defects from factory, car has only a couple thousand miles on it....I machine polished to remove, I was doing correction anyways so, you could polishing by hand....
 
That almost looks like a bird bomb that sat too long. A quick section pass of a cleaner/wax (i.e. McKee's 360) or polish should be able to dispatch the theory quickly. Other than that, it also almost looks like a burn in the clear.... Again, try to polish and report back what happens.

Thanks all for the responses so far. I will try a pass with a cleaner but it has been a while since I used my detail waxes / compounds. May have to buy a new batch.
