Hey guys I need some help and photos with before and afters with paint correction since I have yet to correct a black vehicle yet. Does anyone have any pictures I could use? Also when I said paint correction she thought I would be applying new paint I know I know... What should I say to make her understand and make her want something more than a base detail? Her husband also has a Lamborghini Countach that I really wanna get my hands on as well so please help guys! I'm an amazing detailer I just need some help on getting me and my work out there.
Feed back please Thanks in advance everyone:dblthumb2:

Im sure you could find somebody on here who has a black car to correct paint. I also think you should educate your clientel as it seems you are getting alot of business

Give her a demo. Spend five minutes correcting a 1' x 1' section of worst panel you find. She'll either get it, or you'll know it's time to move on to the next client.

Maybe I'm speaking out of school here, but you're "an amazing detailer" who's never corrected a black car?? I'd try and get a little more practice before you tackle "her husband's" Countach.

I think you might possibly need a little more detailing education if you need help explaining what paint correction is. Are you really comfortable doing this persons black car?

Paint correction is the process of removing visible defects such as swirl marks, water marks, and random scratches that cloud the beauty of the paint. This is basically how I explain it to people.

Hopefully this helps a bit.

No no what I was saying was I'm confident in my detailing skills I'm 16 so alot of people don't think a 16 year old can do a good detail. I have practice, not out of school at all I appreciate the feedback

That's a before & after of just compounding and polish without any glaze, sealant, wax, etc.

Thanks bud.

I know what a paint correction is I've done it before but just to my personal vehicle and my moms vehicle. I actually just purchased MF pads because I got sick of the foam. Sorry if I came off that I've never done a paint correction I would never even offer those services if I was inexperienced. Basically just asking how I would make it simple for her so she would understand. I'm 16 and trying to start up my businuess and alot of people would rather go to an established shop vs. me which I completely understand which is basically why I haven't had a black car to do yet.

Sorry for not being clear everyone.

Black is a hard color to work with as it shows everything, including fingerprints. I would get a clean pair of mechanics gloves so if you touch the car it does not look sloppy

Her vehicles not black black just shows the best before and afters. I have some latex gloves already for detailing. Thanks for the help though Bill.

Basically when I sit down and talk with her about my services and go through everything I'll also show her some before and after pictures. Good idea?

Just tell her that if she's not happy with your work you will gladly restore her vehicle to its original condition!

Kidding, of course.

Are you familiar with Pareto's Principle? Most people refer to it as the 80/20 rule. 80% of your effort brings in 20% of your profits while 20% of your effort might bring in 80% of your profits. What I mean is that sometimes you put alot of effort in for very little results. This may be the case with this customer.

Is customer education important? Certainly. There does come a time when an upsell is no longer effective. I sell clothes for a living and not everyone NEEDS an extra pair of pants. Let's say a pair of blue jeans costs $50 or you can buy 2 for $80. Some people automatically wants both pair for $80; easy sale. Some people don't know about the deal so you explain it and you sell 2 pair of pants. The third person only wants ONE pair of pants. You explain the deal to them, they say no. You explain how it's cheaper in the long run and they save more money but they still say no. You FINALLY persuade them to buy the extra pair and then what happens? They come back first thing tomorrow and return them which costs YOU time and money that you could be spending with other customers. Make sense?

You're young and you're ambitious, that's great, it will take you far. Take enough time to see that not everyone needs every single service you offer. Suggest it, yes! Force them to buy it, no! Move on and make money from other clients.

Why not go to a junk yard and find a black panel from a car that's not in terrible shape. Polish up half of it and lug it around with you.
