Need tips & tricks for Meguiars Paint Protect 365

Here's a tip: Use paint protect as a spray on sealant when drying your car. Use a mini spray bottle and just one spray per panel. Use your towel to spread in around good and wipe off whenever. I haven't had any issues with staining. You can use it on windows too. Great money maker too

THAT is a new idea, I wonder what that would do to the durability since you're supposed to keep PP DRY for 1 - 10 days?

I guess it might dilute it a bit but it looks like it makes it easier to spread around when I spray it on a wet surface and wipe just like you would do with opti seal. It works for opti seal so I don't see why it wouldn't work for any other liquid sealants. It should work as a drying aid too like opti seal so after the initial drying it will stay dry as long as you don't get it wet.

Michael Stoops has also mentioned this technique as well. Although for initial application he does not dilute it. He transfers some product from the bottle of PP365 into a spray bottle.

First time I hear someone using it as a drying aid on a wet surface. Why not just use D156 or Ultimate Quik Wax as it's much easier to use on a wet surface.

Actually I don't dilute it I transfer it to a bottle too, I think the dilution talk was about using it on a wet surface meaning that was the way I was diluting it. And it sure saves time when you combine the drying step with the sealing step. But that's why were here to learn from our mistakes and get the best possible results in the least amount of time without compromising quality and making the most amount of money as we can

Yeah, that's what I was referring to. To me, it seemed like the 365 went on pretty darn easy as it was and using it as a drying aid (even using it as a spray - one spritz per panel), would be over applying it or at least 'wasting' some, I don't know

The only major drawback that I have seen with 365 is the cold hard fact that you need to shake the bottle every several days or else it settles really bad. I think that's the reason they cleared this stuff out of some places because it doesn't say on the bottle to shake well before using it and if you let this stuff settle too long be prepared to shake shake shake for a good 20 minutes

I use PP as a drying aid with ONR and it seems like the ONR helps it pop more. Maybe the lubricity in ONR helps spread the PP around. Don't know but something worth researching cause I know one thing this stuff goes a long long way and its the best investment for me because I've used it for my headlights and it has been almost 6 months and its still going strong

I just recently used pp365 as a drying aid on a customers car and she just got back from a 2 week road trip and needed a maintenance wash. I washed using onr and two wash mitts and wow the surface is still slick, bugs and tar came off super easy, definitely a nice little product for those maintenance wash customers.View attachment 53149

I bought Paint Protect mainly due to the low price relative to the claimed longevity. The actual shine and ease of washing has been impressive. I don't expect a full years worth of protection. I was planning on putting a second coat on before winter, but after 3-4 months the paint is still beading well. I may just leave it alone.

My paint seems to bead well. I have seem several videos showing more sheeting. It may be sensitive to the application conditions. I will admit that I applied it pretty heavy and in full sun. So far, I'm very happy with PP.

For the cost and effortless application you can't beat paint protect, still looking at what kind of longevity I can get here in kansas

How often are you guys washing the vehicle?
On my test subject, I applied it, saw the vehicle 6 weeks later and it beaded prior to the wash... Another 6 weeks went by and I washed it again and there were no beads in sight. Completely gone. Flat. Dead.

Was it washed at all within those 6 weeks before you washed it?

PP is an excellent product for the price. Im almost sure it said to prepare paint before applying right on the bottle, but in any case, you should such as IPA wipedowns.

I applied it in the early summer and results were fantastic. Easy on, applied thing, ,let it haze a bit per directions and then wipe off which is easy. Felt it was even easier than wax and alot of water bead. Smell is strong though

Nope. Nobody touches that vehicle except me. I wash it every 6 weeks like clockwork, and every time I get it the interior is thrashed. Lol.
It's that same blue Honda that I did the 50/50 with Griots Boss Finishing Sealant on the other side.. Megs Paint Protect at least made it till the 1st wash, but it disappeared soon after.

I haven't been able to check the progress on the red Toyota Tacoma that I applied it on... The owner's being a cheap *** and keeps giving me excuses everytime I offer to wash and re wax it.. It's been just over 3 months and it looks like they're going the route of letting their little trucks paint go down the tubes again. Smh.

It probably has some built up contaminants and road grime from not being washed weekly. The rain didn't help either.

You could try adding a little APC into your wash to see if it restores it. But it may deplete it a bit.

I have it on 4 customer cars right now and I'm going to be doing all the maintenance washes on them, I'll see how it holds up

I have it on a daily driver. I wash when it is noticably dirty, so not on a schedule. I have two bucket washed about 4 times and did some touch-up with D114 on several occations. I used Meguiars waterless wash and wax on one of the quarterpanels to see if there was a difference in shine or beading, but did not notice an improvement.
I'm very happy with the performance so far.

The product is kind of a hidden gem in a way. A bit difficult to use and get right, but it does exactly as it claims.

A week after application:

It lasted for over a year on the roof and hood. About 10 months on the sides of the car that saw the most road grime and mag chloride in the winter.
