Neuschwanstein Castle

Ha! That's how it always is. I don't speak much at all but whenever we go out the Germans ALWAYS talk to me in German. I have ask them to speak in English.

I would also say that about my travels around Europe. Although right around military installations it can be quite the opposite.

I will have to look into Salzburg and surrounding area. Sounds beautiful.

I live between Trier and Bitburg on Spangdahlem AB. Have you heard of the beer Bitburger? I am roughly 300 km from Weissach. I plan on seeing Porsche and Mercedes.

Sweeeet. I love Bitburg Bier - Great stuff. (remember Schneider Weiss) Hmmm getting close to Oktoberfest so now I'm really getting jealous. And OMG I would love to visit Weissach. They have a private test track so maybe you get lucky and see cars being tested. The Porsche museum is supposedly worth the trip alone so give that a try.

Salzburg has the nicest "green market" I've ever seen, which is setup right on the edge of town underneath a 1000 yr old monastery. We happened to stroll by and bought just what we needed for lunch. European's got that part of the "life equation" right IMO. The history throughout Europe is so mind blowing - I just can't get enough of it. Really sounds like you having a great tour!!

We walked both up and down to get there when we were there this spring.
