I'm new here and want to thank in advance for this newbie question. So, with a new car should the first step to prep the surface be to use WGPE and then use the 3.0 Paint Sealant or just wash, dry and go to the Sealant?

Chris

ps should I be in one of the faq's sections for the details for a new black car?

what kind of black car are we talking about?

I'd wash, then clay, use the WGPE, then the sealant.

Some ppl don't like to clay a car unless they are going to polish. You should be ok provided you use plenty of lube and a mild clay, maybe even some Iron X before the clay to make sure you don't introduce any marring during the claying process.

If you decide to use IX then the process would be wash, dry, IX, rinse, dry, WGPE, WGDGPS

Nice choice I just picked up my optima sx in black. Had it for 2 days now and I love it!! I didn't go for the sxl although I loved the rims on it

Yeah, these are nice sedans! I'm lovin this one...

I want to keep the process simple and not too time consuming. I've got a WG kit coming. WGPE. Sealant, Detail Spritz and Souv. Wax. I hope this doesn't become another obsession...

it just might! You did go with black lol

It's all black except for the dust on it every morning. Lord help me, what have I done!

I like those Optimas too. Be sure to clay bar it first. My Sorento had rail dust on it when it was new.

Took 6 hours to Polish (WGPE) & Sealant (WG 3.0) WOW! Friday for the wax, can't wait!
