New: Blackfire Bug Blocker - confused on application...

So I just received the email about the new Bug Blocker and I'm confused on the application instructions... It says to apply, rub in and allow to dry before driving. Then it says to remove Bug Blocker within 48 hours of applying with washing the surface ...


Is this something that is used for say going to a car show, and it'll allow you to easily remove dead bugs? I was thinking this was for a bi-weekly application/protectant against bugs...

I would think that unless the “protective haze”
that the BBB leaves behind—along with whatever
amount of bugs that’s embedded therein—isn’t
totally removed fairly soon upon arriving at a Car
Show, that the vehicle would probably not be
judged too favorably.


Which begs the question;
Is it prudent, or not, to apply the BBB
prior to attending a Car Show? It just may
depend upon things such as: the distance
traveled between home-base and the Car
Show; seasonal conditions that are ripe
for bugs; and, ones personal choice of bug
cleaning products and the amount of energy
their use entails.


One other thought:
Will driving a vehicle with (temporary)
“hazy panel(s)” be a deterrent from
using such a product?

If you pull up the product description on the AG store, it seems to describe it as a temporary road trip or drive-through-the country-at-peak-bug-season type product. I think the 48 hour time frame is listed to reflect the fact it won't hold up for much longer and if a car is covered in bugs their remains will eat throgh the product. It sounds almost like a super-durable sealant.

The product description also mentions simply washing this product off, which makes me wonder how well it holds up to rain. It would be a real bummer to spend the time/applying this product to protect your car on a road trip only to have it be washed off in the first storm you encounter.

I can help you out, this product was created after seeing all of Florida drivers cry their way through love bug season. This is what it looks like to drive in Fla in September and May!

This is no joke and not an exaggeration! So we spray this on the front of the car during this season so we are not washing the car EVERY DAY, this will save your finish during this time.
AND for others that have issues when traveling with lots of bugs you just spray and wipe it on the front of your car, back of your mirrors and any where else you get bug spatter.
When you get to your location you can hose it off, along with the dead bugs!

If you have a Travel Trailer, RV or 5th Wheel this is a life saver!!

That is NASTY!!

Glad I don't have to deal with that here in SoCal. On a recent road trip to New Mexico, we hit some bugs. But even after about 3,000 miles through 3 states, it was nowhere near that bad! YIKES!

This type of product is not new. For example, Pro has had its Bug Guard out for years now. I tried it, it does what is intended,but I never have driven in extreme cases of bugs like the one in the photo.

I’m surprised Blackfire took so long to release this product.

Well it took us crossing the state in the middle of love bug season to say, hey we need to do something about this!! And we used to have this product in a line we had many years ago.
Chemistry was there we just had to bring it out of retirement! I will be using this on my 5th Wheel as well as my truck anytime I travel now, I will not go through another bug scrubbing detail again!

Glad there's products out there to help out, I bet the people who own and maintain quarter carwashes are busy during these 2 monthes, not to mention the smell, I can only imagine

1. Will the product remove existing wax/sealant?

2. Product page says "For best results, remove Bug Blocker within 48 hours..." Any idea how long the product can remain without nasty consequences?
