*NEW* BLACKFIRE Crystal Coat Paint Coating!

I've read through this thread a couple of times and other discussions on this product, but I didn't see anything about a QD companion for this product discussed.

I frequently use a drying aid to knock out water spots while drying since I don't have a covered area to wash vehicles. I also use a QD for bird bomb duty.

What would be the recommended product for this scenario? The Blackfire QD appears to have the waxes from Midnight Sun in it, so I'm not sure this would be a good option on a "set-it-and-forget-it" type coating like this one? Would the Blackfire Waterless Wash be a better choice for this duty?

I've used BLACKFIRE Midnight Sun Instant Detailer without any compatibility issues. While it does have wax in it, the purpose is for gloss and feel more than protection, so it's not going to affect the beading or sheeting characteristics of the coating.

Wow! $15.95 shipping on the 4oz. to the West Coast. Wow!

Double Wow!

I have used the Griots speed shine and just recently mixed up a small batch of Hydro2 (10-1) for a QD and it works great on a cool dry surface. Adds slickness and gloss. Although not really sure how economical it is.

Has anyone used d156 on top of this coating? I have a gallon of it and use it for a drying aid. I also have BFMSID (also drying aid) but I'd like the option to throw on the spray wax, especially for winter months. I also have d115 which I use as an actual QD and wonder if all this is now a waste after coating it.

If that's all you're ordering put a note in the comments box and I'll knock that down to $4.95. :dblthumb2:

Hi Nick, Would you know if there are any plans for a maintainence product for the crystal coat (that matches the cquartz ingredients and helps in strengthening the coat rather than an additional layer of something else altering the looks and water behavior/self cleaning ability). Some like what Carpro's reload is to CQuartz.

Im interested in this as well.

After all, the PBL line has a dedicated shampoo, QD, and Coating booster for its product.

Did anyone ever find out if Reload would be ok on top of BF Coating?

I used reload 1:4 as a drying aid spraying on towel and it worked great adding a bit more gloss. It was the 2014 version and Color was black but I didn't notice any streaking. I don't think there was a point using it up straight as it was just the second wash (a month later). During the wash beads were like:

Dried most of the car using air blower. This was after wash and reload 1:4 as drying aid (iPhone pics):

Mike & Sealthedeal Thanks!

I ordered some of the BF coating to try. But I still have a new liter of Reload so it looks like they should play well together.

Jumping in from my other thread where Mike had recommended me to use this coating.

Does anyone have firm information on the shelf life of this product?

I only need to coat two cars (one medium and one small), but would like to repeat it again in 2 years again since I'm sure I will have enough left.

Any more information on whether Reload would help extend its durability would be great. Thanks!

Got another question, what other products can we use to top up the coat and extend the durability?

I just read Reload 2014 isn't as easy to apply and buff off. And then the CarPro HydrO2 is also an "expensive" alternative but heard of one guy saying he messed up the entire car because he used a car wash liquid with gloss enhancer (and I still have loads of it).

What other sealants that are compatible for top up on this coat?

There is an improved 2015 version which is said to have resolved the issue.
For 2014, you will have to dilute and I didn't issues with 1:4 (meant more like a QD/drying aid).
Besides you are putting a coating on, worrying for top ups should be the last thing. Put it to test and see how it goes for you. Have carpro reset at hand should you need a thorough wash to bring the coating behaviour back. If the water behaviour has dropped then go for any topping.
May be blackfire would have a compatible product topper by then like the pinnacle BL lineup did.

If budget isn't an issue, kamikaze overcoat has strong reviews for its looks and water behaviour.
Polish angel also has a coating based booster offering.

Has anybody put Pinnacle Souveron liquid spray wax on top of this coating?

Wondering if there would any side effects.

I love these coating threads...the discussion immediately turns to topping them. Incredible.

Applying a coating and forgetting about it is boring. Topping it is where all the fun is.:props:
