*NEW* BLACKFIRE Crystal Coat Paint Coating!

Yes. I don't think there will be any problem.

The BF and CQ are both Quartz based coatings.

Thanks Mike, another question, my garage is open but it doesn't hit the sun. Is there a problem that I must have some extra careful applying it on the outside?

Thanks again for all your help.

If i were you, i'd tried to find a completely closed space, you don't want anything getting stuck or something settling on the coating in an open air environment, it'd be a waste of work. IMO

Just as Chris mentioned above, I would find a completely enclosed garage in that you have control over the area around you.

Thank you Chris and Mike, so do you think it will be safe on a public closed garage with some good light?

Just bought this on the BOGO. Watched the video and sounded so easy to apply, now I'm reading here it's a nightmare.... Wonder if I just wasted 40 dollars. I know you get what you pay for but this is my intro to the coating world so I wanted to go cheap to learn proper application techs

Does anyone know if there are certain batch numbers that were/are problematic? Just got my kit today and the stamp reads "15089".

That's an interesting thought. I already tossed my bottle, so I can't help there.

I wonder if it is a bad batch, or if the seals on some bottles were not set properly which allowed for the product to start aging before they ever reached a customer.

I don't know if that is a batch number but my problematic bottle which I bought in August (I think) has those numbers on it also.

My question, if this stuff is so problematic, why hasn't Blackfire done anything to change the formula? Why does autogeek still push this stuff to customers?

I'll be trying it this weekend when it arrives. Hopefully it's not as rough as some have stated

They still push the product because some people have used it successfully on multiple occasions. Mike@DedicatedPerfection is one of them. His video is proof that some can use the product without issues. Unfortunately, there are other who haven't had the same experience. Who knows, you might do OK!

I have yet to try mine, same #. I wonder with it frequently being on sale if they trying to get rid of old, and bring in a revamped version.

If say that's a fairly safe bet. I too bought into this stuff another time it was on sale a few months ago and then read all the horror stories. I called and was going to exchange it for something else, but they talked me out of it. I still have yet to open it and don't know of I'll ever feel comfortable spreading it onto my car knowing that so many people have had bad experiences with it.

My bottles are batch 15075 and exhibit the same poor quality. They will be going back for a refund.

I just applied it last night on my Honda Accord. It was murder to buff off. There needs to be some kind of anecdote that you can add to the formula for this problem. I think you can open a bottle and use it for the first time with no problem. After that good luck as you prepare for battle.

By coincidence, I've just finished coating today a 2007 black PT Cruiser, after properly polished, and I decided to use my BF Crystal Coat.

You all are aware of problems regarding shelf life of this product, and I knew I would run into problems, since It was opened in August 2015, although I keep it in the fridge due to high temps where I work.

Yes, it was a sticking/streaking nightmare. Difficult to level it with mf, leaving streaking, glueing to the mf, and I was inflicting swirls back to the paint, as I tried to remove the excess :(

I was sweating and cursing silently, thinking that I had to repolish some panels, when I had the idea of treating it like another coating I have, and decided to level it with a DAMP microfiber.

It worked! No more streaking, and excess removal was a breeze!

I would like to ask other forum members in similar situation, with old BF Crystal Coat, to do the same in some test panels to confirm my tweaking technique.

Best regards

RPM

So, Do you have any update for the damp MF method for long term? Did it affect?

Thanks for your info.

Guys,

We're in the process of reformulating Crystal Coat to make it easier to apply. If anyone is not satisfied with their purchase please send me a PM or email. [email protected]

I've had my Crystal Coat for quite a while but still had the same issues everyone else has talked about and haven't used it since. Is this offer still applicable?
