We have both a polish Prep and Spray Prep: BLACKFIRE Paint Prep

We provide both for convenience!!

I bought some a couple weeks ago. I had bad luck with the PBL prep polish. I think the water base seperated or something. 2 different bottles damaged my paint. I think it seperated and dried out.

I tried only using a couple passes before anyone blames me. 2 different bottles did the same thing.

Ugghhh...There I go again. My attention to detail is really slipping these days. I looked over the Blackfire page several times before posting that!

So, how do you both like it? It seems to be be about average price-wise compared to other panel wipes. I used the previous version and it worked OK, but always wondered if there was something else better at removing polishing oils.

How long had you owned the PBL polishes when you found out they had gone bad?
 
Is it feasible to use Blackfire Prep Polish or McKee’s Prep Polish prior to using PBL Synergy or Wheel coatings, rather than using PBL Prep Polish? What about using only Blackfire or Wolfgang Prep Sprays in place of PBL Prep Polish (assuming one is thorough and makes sure the entire surfaces are polished/sprayed/wipes well).

That is very possible to do with either of what you mentioned.
 
Is there any advantage of using the polishes rather than sprays? I assume the polishes will have greater success removing old sealant/waxes and strong finishing polish oils, vs the spray may take numerous wipe downs depending what’s on the surface, and may not be able to remove old, strong sealants at all? Am I on the right track? Sprays only for “cleaner surfaces”, prep polishes for more “caked” surfaces?

Well the first 1 sat in the garage over the summer but the second bottle was brand new. I figure it prob sat around the warehouse

The prep polish "i think" is designed for people who are not polishing the car with an abrasive polish first. The sprays are good after an abrasive polish. I like eraser carpro

Thanks for the info. I’m a little nervous, I bought 32oz in October and haven’t touched it since yet. I’ll see how it is in the next month or so when I use the PBL Wheel coating.
 
Very very interesting, I had issues spreading the old version out her in the desert and McKees is my primary go to right now for mobile coatings. I'd love to see this will apply in my hot desert details and especially hold up to the hard water. I still recommend sealants over coatings because of these two major issues here.

The thing is you need to do a test spot and look at the paint closely before and after with a bright light. Not just under natural lighting. I have black so its easy to notice under those conditions. If I used it on a silver or white car I probably would have never noticed even with the scangrip head lamp I use
