GSKR- yeah you are right I absolutely will avoid drama. That's also why I wanna learn to polish too. I do better taking care of this stuff myself and I get a huge relaxing vibe from working on stuff like this.
Guys thanks for all the replies. It really puts me at ease that the car is not damaged, to hear it from a bunch of fanatic experts. I am a noob with cars but an expert with race bikes (bicycles). I ride and race all year up to 15K miles per year, twice as much as I drive cars. Caring for those bikes (mine and my team) I am a super fanatic. I guess it carries over to cars and wanting perfection. We wash bikes every single day. There is hardly a race day we run bearings without fresh packed grease. We have rain bikes even, for using when it's wet. I think there are some similarities with car nuts lol.
On a good note- I just tested out the master blaster after car got soaked in rain - omg that is an amazing tool! I will use this on bikes and save hella time. No more threading rags through drivetrain parts.
I can't wait to do a thorough wash tomorrow with foam cannon and master blaster.
About hand polishing those swirls - should I tackle that before or after washing? I suppose it won't matter really as long as I wash the pillars first. Is there a tut or vid that shows a good method to polish this type of part?
Time for beer take care.
