I bought this from a friend. He was not much of a car cleaner. I found a car show brochure behind the seat. It was 6 years old. He also did not clean the lower parts of the car.

I use Mother products. The rims were really dull. I treated them like they were paint they are clear coated. Started with a compound and glazed them. I used Stoner tire shine.

I laid down on the ground and got every bit of tar and bug off the paint. I found where the front had be touched up due to a curb rub. The car looks like new now.

The drivers seat was something that really looked different. The grey just looked old and cracked. It looks like new now. Too bad I have to put it away for winter. I will miss it.

I like the color. Definetaly works well with the car. You did a nice job making it look great again.

^^but no seriously dude no offense but reading your post even made my mind read it in a monotone voice lol have some enthusiasm :D just compare my response above this, one sounds boring, while this one is real talk ;D

Looks great. Question: why do a lot of you guys put your cars away for the winter? Is it because of snow and the location you guys are located at? Just assuming and wondering.

What did you seal the paint with?

Either way good job...

Looks great.

@ Art:
The Good Wife's, as well as mine, main reason for not driving any
of our Corvettes on below 32°F and snowy Winter-season days:

Goodyear Eagle F1 Supercar EMT Run-Flat Ultra-High Performance Tires.

:)

Agreed.

Summer only tires just don't have the grip to deal with snow.

Nice ride, Congrats! Good job on it too!

Looks good, I'll look for you running around Waukee when I come out to my Mother in Laws house. I am in WDM. Have you found Prevette's for good local products yet?

What a great color. Good job!

On the subject of winter, the G8 gets put away once the snow/salt hits (I have another beater for that). Summer tires are evil enough in freezing temperatures, let alone snow. It's also a whole lot easier to keep a car nice if it's not being driven during the winter and subjected to salt and road grime.

Sand and salt. That is not the kind of junk I want building up on the underside of a car that I try to baby.

Looks awesome, one of my all time favorite Vette colors. Also love it on a 4th gen F-body. I'd say drive it! But that's just me, I don't keep them long enough to worry about it. Come to think of it, every car I've ever owned has been driven in snow. Heck, I just took the CTS-V out yesterday to run errands while it was snowing. 556hp, and Nitto NT-05R Drag Radials... I would drive my 00 Vette Coupe as long as the front air dam wasn't becoming a plow blade, so 3 inches of snow? That was shod with Goodyear Eagle F1 EMT's.

My cousin owns a Porsche Cayman S. He had the Porsche out one day during a heavy snow (snowed a lot more than forecasted) and he said that Porsche handled better than any car he's ever driven in the snow! Didn't intend to drive it in the snow; but hey!

I'm that way with motorcycles. I know a lot of guys who would never dream of taking their babies out in the rain; but I bought my bike the tour with. Long distance riding and not riding in the rain are incompatible. Sometimes you have to ride for hours and hours in the rain. Oh well! However, I don't take it out when there is a lot of salt on the road (in other words, I won't ride if the roads have been salted but it hasn't rained). That's just nasty stuff. Hate that it gets on my daily driver but, what are you gonna do!

Porsche's are from Germany!! Most people don't think about it, but it snows a lot over there in Bavaria! I've heard many stories of people driving them through really rough weather and living to tell the tale. I would assume with them being RWD and rear engine that forward propulsion would be a non issue due to having good weight over the rear axle.

That said, I'm still not a fan of riding a motorcycle in the rain. I've been caught in it before and it sucks bad. I have no clue how I made it home one time 50+ miles on my R6 in a total deluge. If only I was young and bulletproof again! I have friends that ride all year round, in Chicago. They mostly ride dual sports and tourers. Absolute nut jobs if you ask me! We aren't just talking around the block either. I mean full on, commute every day in the snow on a motorcycle. One of their weapons of choice is a fully decked out Kawi Concours.

Like anything else it's all about the tools. I have a cruiser with a comfortable riding position and plenty of storage for extra clothes, and great rain gear. I'm dry when I get to my destination. But when you like to take several-thousand-mile trips the rain is just unavoidable. I always have my rain gear, some tools, first aid, etc., with me. Heck just this past Sunday I rode 220 miles and didn't actually go anywhere. Went to my grandparents place. They live 30 minutes away. I just took the really, really long way there. It's what I love to do! Some people paint, some people knit, I ride and ride and ride! Just love spending all day long on my motorcycle. Never gets old! But as I said, if you seriously do that, rain is unavoidable. It WILL happen. I prefer sunny days! But, when you take vacation time, plan a trip, make reservations; and it's raining? You can't just stay home!

It's amazing how good modern rain gear has gotten though. Sometimes I'll have a little water inside my boots when it blows UP my overpants and then DOWN my boots (which is why I have a couple pairs of socks on my bike whenever I ride any distance! Even if there's no rain in the forecast I am ALWAYS prepared for it), and sometimes my wrists well gets some water and my neck, but other than that, I'm dry. Full face helmet + rain liner in my jacket + waterproof riding overpants + waterproofed leather boots and gloves; and I am good to go! I even have a little rubber wiper blade on my gloves to wipe rain off of my visor.
