I know i might be have some big dreams but i really want this car to stand out, i want it to look like glass... I notice that some one uses a picture of a hood of a corvette that looks like glass... do i have hopes to correct the problems with my car and have it looking like that...
Thanks Again, Sqweak

I think you should be able to remove alot of that stuff. I think the ventshades marks might just be leftover adhesive, so claying the car might get that off. I think that one spot with what looks like actual cracking in the clearcoat might not be repairable, but everything else looks like you could tackle it with some moderate polishes.

:iagree: XMT 360 with Edge Green pad PC setting 5-6 should take care of most of that.

ok going to place my order tomm.. for my car... which products do you guys suggest again... AG is going to love me tomm..... thanks

I have a 94 black lexus es300 and I used Menz SIP. It looks so good that I'm now doing my co-workers black Mercury Marauder for $$$

That spot cracking makes my skin crawl whenever I see it, reminds me of a bacterial infection. My buddy had that on his Nissan, it seemed to be a manufact defect. His car was 2 years old and the dealer repaired it for him. Not without a little moan and groan first.

I agree, this may be just recedue/contaminents left over. A good clay should be able to remove lots of it. In case it did scratch the clear coat, feel to see how deep it is and something to consider in the future (unless you feel up to it) it may require wet sanding. I did one for a friend and it looked exactly the same as your picture and I first clayed it with the Clay Magic (red) and removed lots of contaminents but then I noticed that it did scratch the clear coat and I wet sanded what ever was left and the lines were completely gone...oh I used 2500grit sand paper in case your interested. Again only wet sand if your up to it...wet sanding is't all that bad, you just have to check your work LOTS! That's all...but seeing as your just getting your feet wet perhaps hold off on the wet sanding...well just my $0.02 that's all.

Okay this you should be worried abut, I honestly don't know what it is but it almost looks like clear coat failure? mmmm....you could try polishing but I don't know, it looks bad...I'm curious to see what others say it is.

Now that's what I'm talking about, beutiful swirls hahahaha..those are easy a nice polish like Menzerna or Optimum is just what the Dr. recomends...this is where you just smile, grab your tools and go at her :righton: I look foward for swirls :awesome:

This dosen't look that bad, again claying should take good care of it and what ever is left over you should be able to remove with a good polish and a few passes. It all depends if any deep scratches are left. Polishing will help and will reduce it so that you hardly see it.

Overal, the vehicle is in good shape, you will get great results with this vehicle. You've doen your homework and your set to go, looking forward to the process and pictures.

I hope this helps a little.

Definitely looks like CC failure. I have 2 small spots on my hood (nickel and dime-sized). I was told that nothing could be done for it, and to avoid the spots when polishing? Would be interesting to see what someone suggests for it. Hoping it somehow can be minimized, visually. As for the other marks, and swirls, I agree with everyone else..........clay and polishing should get rid of those.

ok i think i know what i'm going to do..
1. Clay Bar the whole car...
2. then do a XMT 360 with a edge green pad
3. Wolfgang Deepgloss sealeant
4. then polish it with pinnalce liquid soverant..

does that sould about right anything i'm missing... to make this car look like glass... and also i have heard that you can use touch up paint on rock chips then polish it or something to help the touch up, anyone have a clue what i'm talking about... please help let me know if i'm missing anything or the wrong order... i need to order the stuff soon but i want to make sure that i'm useing the right stuff...

you are correct, that spot is likely birdie doo-doo etching or egg. Both leave markings like that if allowed to sit on paint for extended time.

..

1. Clay bar after washing is good decision.
2. I would move to Menzerna Nano Polish as dedicated polish
3. I would personally choose Four Star UPP over Wolfgang on black as reflective
4. Top with LS or Souveran Paste as wanted / or consider Four Star Enhancing Gloss Spray and use it religiously.

XMT360 has some wax in it, and might not work properly with sealant over it. So a dedicated polish that jewels down to superb gloss like a finishing polish would be and is my choice.

thanks i really appreciate everything... i'm going to order today or tomm... but i will post before and after pics... i hope i'm happy with the results.... also would you still use the LS or paste then use the four star gloss spray or just use the spray...you say use it religiously is that like a quick detailer.. use every so often... also any type of pad should i use.... for the polish

after claybar and polishing to get out swirls, as a final step i use Liquid Glass. It gives a mirror finish, deepens color and great protection

yeah looks like bird !#$^ damage to me too. Most of it should buff out, but I doubt all.
