New Car Decision, 2012 subaru wrx sti or 2013 mustang gt premium

Here's a pic on the Dragon. I have a few of both cars, but, not uploaded to gallery.

sorry to hijack the original topic. I included this attempt to tempt the OP.

Aw man now I might want a shelby lol actually I have the funds but the payment might be too much maybe a 08? Ok i'm sold! If it has low miles I'll buy any used car lol

I really don't think that is a fair comparison. First they say it's the 4.6 V8 when it's really a V6 model. It's also an automatic and a convertible. You've got more weight and less rigidity than the coupe. Plus the 2006 model and the 2011+ are different power wise and handling wise.

I hear what you are saying...but i car should not be slower than a man on a horse. Even if I were to buy a geo metro, i would expect that to be faster than a man on a horse. in the video i know its the base model, and automatic, but the car is just going in one big circle and the can't even do that right.

I realize american cars are getting better. still american cars have many cons compared to other car manufacturer.

you buy a stang for 2 reasons, when you put the right foot down, you feel good. the second is because you think you will look good driving it.

I will admit american V8 sound amazing. they make me all weak in the knees at idle. Italian V8 sound better because they sound sporty and make all sorts of sounds, but american V8 that low grumble...WOW!

Did you watch the part about the lotus exige. god that car is pure sex, I just love it.

stang vs Lotus.

the race starts ~3mins and the stang is driven by a professional racing driver and has 3 times the power as the lotus

The exige is a sexy little car. Of course you could sell one and buy two mustangs....well almost

I will add since I am a bit of a/Subaru enthusiast it is by far the best community around! In Cincinnati we have had drives for charity and one of the guys that I didn't even know came to my garage and helped me for an entire day to get my clutch in that is a huge thing for me.

How is the Mustang 3 times more powerful then the Lotus? An Exige has 240 HP that would mean the Mustang has at least 720 HP lol. Not even a Shelby has that much let alone an 06 model GT. I understand the comparison made in that video though.

Now this statement I agree with.:props:

I still don't find that to be a fair comparison. You're pretty much putting a mini-supercar up against a brute street machine that was never really ment for the track in stock form.

I think it depends on what the cars intended use will be. If it's going to be a daily driver I'd say get the STi or maybe even the WRX Limited and save $5k. It looks like your in NY so come winter time the AWD will make it worthwhile. If it's just a weekend toy I'd say get the Mustang as it looks better and the interior quality is probably a little better too.

Both cars are great IMO, but I'm drawn to the AWD option living in MN and all. Actually the WRX is on a short list of cars I'm looking at this summer. :dblthumb2:

so have you decided Ultimate?

Yes I believe an '07-'09 gt500 is what I'll be looking at over the next month to find a great low mileage car in the package I want. And for the winter I am just going to buy a beater truck to drive around. I have way too much history with mustangs to not buy one, and I am choosing from the heart not from the idea of I have to buy it as a civil duty kind of thing. Because when it comes down to it, I really feel the mustang is a part of my life and... C'mon awd burnouts? lol

I believe this is how all car purchases should be made.

Good choice and good luck.:props:

Obviously, I like the decision. You will love the car. I have not modded mine, but, the power is easily unleashed. There is plenty to begin with. With simple mods you can unlock 100 to 150 hp.

As a previous Mustang owner, I would go for the WRX. Although the mustang was fast and does have a great style. Its still a Ford.
The interior didnt stand the test of time. window switches and motors constantly failed. tail lights melted their own casing and had to be replaced. gas tank float broke and is very costly to fix....Subaru will run forever and ever. Just my thoughts

Well that's awesome, the gt500's are in a whole other level of cool compared even to a new 5.0 GT. Gobs of power and fun as well as limited numbers and low depreciation. I've seen nice lower mileage examples for around 30k-35k around me, I haven't seen any yet in the 20's. Which is a good thing for my financial well being LOL

Definitely is, I wish that everybody made decisions with their heart, it would be a better world I believe.

I was thinking of rebuild the engine, but only with ford racing parts.

To everyone: Thank you for your help and knowledge. I can sleep better at night knowing that good people still exist, like the members here at AGO. In the end I may have decided to go with the mustang, but in no way am I choosing because I have to. Or that the 'stang is a better car. They both have great following's and also they have each have their own advantages. But I felt at home choosing the mustang and thats what I think it's about. And anyone looking to buy a car in the future, or anything for that matter, buy what your comfortable with. I hope to post some pictures of the car when I buy it too. Look for the post within the next month. As for me I got some shopping to do!

P.s. Who ever knew choosing a car could be so philosophical? lol:xyxthumbs:

AWD drive rocks. I just wish they made something like the WRX is the legacy platform... The impreza is just too small for me.

So you getting the Mustang, but I have to ask: MT or AT? :D

They do the legacy gt it's turbo. You don't get quite the handling but it's still a very fun car to drive
