So I've got a 2014 challenger that's silver. I've only ever washed and waxed the exterior. There are no swirl marks that I can see. I was wondering if I should just continue to wash and wax, or if I would be better off washing, using the Iron X for decontamination, and following it up with a paint coating? I don't want to damage the paint on the car since it's basically brand new. The car stays under a cover most of the time, so weather exposure is limited.

What is your goal with the car? If it is to simply try and maintain its 'newness' for as long as possible without delving into the paint correction process then I would suggest you do a wash, decontamination product (iron x, clay, etc.) and then put a nice sealant on the paint. With weekly washes and a periodic reapplication of the sealant I think you would have a nice looking car for a good long time.

My goal is to maintain the new look of the car for as long as I can. Is there any specific sealant you would suggest? I'm not looking to spend hundreds on it, but don't mind spending some money to get something that's good.

Thanks for your help! I've seen where some people say they put a coat of wax on afterwards. Is there any benefit to doing that other than just some extra protection?

From my understanding the carnauba waxes will enhance the shine with some additional protection but I think it is primarily for the looks.

Gotcha. I may try the wax too, just to see how it turns out. Thanks for the info!

You definitely want to wash, IronX, then clay - you'd be surprised how dirty your chally really is. Powerlock Irv recommended is great. Another one I personally like is Sonax Polymer Netshield with Sonax Brilliant Shine Detailer - awesome stuff.

Coatings are great but require a good amount of prep work - results are pretty amazing - at least to me they are...

I've never done coatings before, just saw a lot about it on here and read up on them. I thought it might be something interesting to try. As you said, a lot of people see great results from them.I'd rather do something like that than polish on the brand new paint, especially since there isn't anything wrong with the paint right now.

Polish Angel Cosmic Coating:

The coating is icing on the cake...if your paint is dull, you apply a coating, chances are it will still be dull. If you polish the paint to a shine, the coating will enhance the shine even more...

Just flipping through another forum post you're involved in between coatings and sealants. It's interesting to me. I may buy one of each, try one on my car and the other on my truck, just to see which I like better. I appreciate your input.

No problem, anymore questions shoot away :props:
