Vettes have bad resale, one of the guys we race with bought an 02' ZO6 to turn into a mostly track only car, 27K. Now a Viper on the other hand, heh, Gen 2's are already going up in value. When ever you have a car produced in volum resale sucks, i.e. American trucks/suv's. Or when you take a car and price it way to high, i.e Benz's 65 cars, people paid around 180-190K and now their lucky to sell them for low 100's, an SL65 at a deal here just went for 90 something thousand, talk about horrrible resale.

actually I have found all my Vettes have had great resale ... and fall only to Lexus in revalue. That said, the 2004 was the last year of the C5 and as such does take a hit. I doubt you would find a 2004 for this price, but offered the years to help with body style. My C5 was purchased for 42k in 2002 and insurance paid out 35k in late 2005. I could have gotten 32k easy in the marketplace with quick sell.

The reason I offered them is for several reasons, most are owned by professionals as second cars. They have lower mileage, kept up well, and usually serviced on time at dealers. With Stabilitrak (late 99 addition) , Traction Control, Pass Key, and Antilock brakes the insurance aint so bad either. While the parts to mod aint cheap ... most of the car is bulletproof. Even the automatics are quite capable of the 12's with just a small gear change. (under grand for 3.42 rear). Auto Vettes are always offered with smaller gearing to avoid gas guzzler taxes and I have seen 25+ miles to the gallon while running 85pmh across the state.

While I wont get deep into a Viper versus Vette discussion, drive both and there is a clear winner for daily use. What I will say is I can walk into any dealer right now and get 10k or more off the Viper. If I want a Z06 (and I do) well the best deal is 5k over and a serious 8-10 week wait.

Hehe, but I was raised differently with performance cars, mother even used to drive an almost stripped 993 daily. I find them to be very comfortable but that's me, I drove an 01' ACR Viper from here to Kentucky, much stiffer then the GTS. I'll drive them daily, one of the guys in VCA here is 72 and damn near drives his everyday. But yeh, doesn't ride near as smooth as a C6 especially, and if that bothers somebody Viper is deffinitley not the car for them.

Yup, Dodge kinda missed it on the Gen 3's, still look great but not that classic shape Gen 2's have. Suprisingly they were still ranked as #1 car for holding resale even with the rebates, as generally that hurts resale, look at what all the rebates do to American trucks ughhhh, my truck was 35K new in 01' and now I'd be lucky to get 7-9K for it.

Wow. I have learned so much here from so many nice people. I just do not care for the looks of the Viper. My Supra got too slow else I would have kept it - it was in wonderful condition - but you can't really turbo the normally aspirated ones, and that is what I have.
I would like a Z06, but not the insurance, and I nearly paid 70 for this when all was said and done, and all I added was lojack. I am going to have to email you when I want to up the horses, which I will ...:p For now, I will work on the paint!!
Hey, fellow vette lover, have you seen the color matched panels for the c-6's? They are after market but Chevy will still install them. I really want to do my interior with red (it is tan and black now.) Any suggestions on this front? This is all new to me. I kept my Supra stock and all my Hondas prior to that. Sorry, but I really love the Japanese cars - they just let me down as I do not do Nissan and the S2000 and Toyotas are way sorry compared to a vette that can take a 5oo hp Cobra.
PLMK what you (and anyone else) thinks!!
TTYL!
:D

Oh I know - I have seen it in person. It is quite nice. :righton:
my husband is mr saturn - he has had like 5 different Saturn vehicles since they came out (right now we own 2!), and got 6 other relatives to buy them too - no kidding. :p
I just always think of them as the nerd mobiles. no offense lol - this one doesn't quite fit their image!!!!:applause:

about 6 months ago i made the change from my 240sx, which i loved, to my 95 bmw. now i hate the 240, the bmw is far superior in every way. RWD, phenomenal handling, great engine, no problems except for the fact that a low bumper doesnt like racoons. and yes manual transmission. i bought my 95 318ti for 6 grand with brand new chip, shocks, springs, and a few other goodies, plus its got full sport interior. ive changed the oil a few times...and thats it really for maintence costs. sounds like you have a bit of money to spend so i recommend looking at the older m3's (95- 99). theyre very fast, look great, handle great and sound mean as hell. and whatever you get, manual is the best. learn to drive manual, its so much better!!!

I mentioned a couple time here I'm selling my 2001 Mustang GT because of gas costs, insurance costs (only 20 y/o), and a few other reasons and lalso ooking for something a little more reliable and less miles.

I really like the Mazda 3 S and the Scion TC, any thoughts on either?
