How OCD are you? swirl are gonna be there... the more you 'touch' your car, the greater chance of getting swirl. If you're that annoyed by the tiny little imperfection then at least get a D/A machine, polish and LSP, along with the proper washing tools.

If not, just go with filler glaze (like Poorboy Blackhole) and LSP afterwards.

As far as NXT, apply as thin as you can, wait 15-20 min then do the swipe test (glide your fingertip to the applied panel, if you can clean it in a swipe then it's ready to buff. If it still leaves oily trace then wait again)

I told the dealer not to wash the car but the message didnt get through and it was washed anyways..sigh

Is it worth really polishing the car with a buffer just to remove these swirls, or am i better off (being the ameture I am) to just start claying it and sealing it.

I did a test area with some Meg NXT2.0 and it looks alright.... When applying MegNXT2.0 Wax do you need to wait like 5 minutes before wiping it off with a microfibre towel?

thing is its a new car so there shouldnt be any swirls...
 
Afraid not that simple... your new car will go through miles and miles of travel between factory to destination, either via truck, ship or drove via road and along the way it's gonna catch rain, dust, etc. Now if you're selling a new car, would you want to have those when the customer come?

So probably someone gonna wipe them, drive them to local carwash, or worse use water and wet towel to wipe those dirt... just a fact of life that makes detailing world prosper... lol
 
some dealers take the necessary steps to prevent swirls on a new car... others could care less... probably if the car is already sold when it arrives
 
Dont know about state side but car dealers need to shift as may cars as fast as possible over hear and wont spend more than 15 mins preping a car by a bloke on minimum wage.

OP... you can use a glaze rather than going the whole correction route its cheaper than getting all the machine gear and you can see if that worked for you you could possibly even meet up with another member local to you that may well have the gear and sort something out between you as to do you have a go with there gear???

Yeh your right, most new cars have swirls, faint ones but they are there, it goes on truck then off the truck then on another truck and most likely get's a wipe here and there and the pricks put swirls through it all. Unavoidable apparently.

The current equip I have;
Megs 2.0 Wax
Zaino's Bros Z2 Polish Sealer (very good and recommended by local car detailer and some forums)
Zaino Car Wash - also not bad
Good Microfiber towel
Waffle Weave drying towel
'Magic Clay' Clay Bar
Lubricant
Buckets

I dont own any upmarket swirl remover products and I would have to by a small buffing machine to get a good finish right?

The swirls are only noticed by me as I am fussy, it may be worth just leaving them as they only show up with a lot of sun light but if I was going to a competition of-course (which Im not) then I would get owned in the marking because of the swirls

Anyways I did Clay the car yesterday, I followed all the steps and used plenty of spray on lubricant.

Having a look at the paint today it looks like my claying job put some scratches in it which I cant understand how happend as I was constantly checking the clay as I went and I never dropped it on the ground etc..

You can just buy some Meguiar's Ultimate Compound or some Ultimate Polish and that will most likely remove that scratch without a D.A. or a rotary.

Thanks for the advice, have you used that stuff before & how would you use it without a rotary and still not ruin the clear coat?
 
use it with a foam pad its a light abrasive polish dont worry about the clear coat. just dont put your entire body weight into it haha. follow the instructions on the back
 
should I remove the sealer I put on with detergent before doing this? Or will it be ok to just polish it out
 
has anyone here before experience scratches after claying?

re: compound - do I need to remove the sealer I put on with detergent first?
