New car prep question - 2016 Mercedes GLE Polar White

There's a big difference between Solid White(polar white) - which you have - and Single Stage white.

POLAR white is still a 100% BC-CC paint it just does not have a metallic flake and finish = which makes a SOLID white...not a single stage white :)

I doubt a company like Mercedes would use Single Stage white on a 2015 car lol.

Have you wet sanded and test spotted a 149 code car yourself...? If not perhaps don't comment...
Mercedes also confirmed to me it was single stage when I enquired with them...

Have a look here too.. That's Mercedes own data....

End of the day mikes advice on test spot is the final word as there's nothing stoping the factory changing the paint tech ..

But mine sadly is modern SS...
Looks good but was ridiculous to achieve....

Gotta scrape it up with our high quality terry rags! Oh don't worry we wash them after a few cars, and we only drop them a few times.

I worked on a polar white but never saw anything come off onto my pad...that's what I based my advice on. However, I only removed some paint transfer so I could be wrong. Thanks for clearing it up.

Or should I thank Bob.

Test spot is always the way to go! Really nice C-class there btw!

Anyways, All the best.

I'd be thanking bob for sure.. he sourced the info..

I wasn't sure when i bought it either and only started enquiring when i was considering a coating... it was at that point i realised a coating wasn't gonna get the look i was after without wet sanding the peel first.. the little test spot I did (wet sanding) , and studying a paint chip under a magnifying glass there was no transition from a top clear to the base color.. just the single layer.... it took about oa month of nosing about on line and then calling the dealer and the local mercedes specilaist repairer and enquiring... the repairer was the clincjer.. they used SS on the body and BC / CC on the front and rear bumpers...

Ironically after finishing the full wet sand and the subsequent polishing and jewelling, after glazing and sealing i decided i didn't realy the coating... it looked mint.. (but god what a PITA to get there.. )

But at the end of the day totally agree a test spot of 2 is always the way.. cos cars have history....

All good mate..
