The Explorers look pretty nice. Sparkie have you thought about checking out the Diesel Jeep Cherokee?
I had a diesel before, and I love diesel engines, the wife hate's them. She said they sound like they are going to fly apart. WOMEN:D

I would have to go with the highlander. Lately, the explorer hasn't had very good reliability. And with the gas prices rising once again, I am pretty sure the highlander is a little easier on the pocket.

If I picked a Toyota, I'd rather get 4-Runner. It will get you more of a truck feel, where Highlander will give you more of a minivan feel.

lol From whats said about them they are supposed to be really quiet. From what the Jeep website says they are supposed to be at dealerships this month. But we know how that goes:confused: Go for a test drive and don't tell her what it is. hehe Prices look they are going to be kind of steep for me anyway. I will probrably look at diesel trucks when its that time again. Hey its always that time to look.;)

What do yal think about a GMC Acadia?

nice crossover design from GM. Truly competes with top crossovers. It will however be used across the line. Buick, Pontiac, Saturn, and GMC gets one. Watch out for pricing as the spread is like 30k - 45k.

I still like our Cadillac SRX better personally, but its rear wheel drive and based upon the CTS platform so very nimble for a truck. Wife however, wont let me add some 20's to it to bling it up !!! You can find them very reasonable in price used 25k-30k (look for 1 year old or 2 maximum) considering most sold for mid 40k-55k new.

Funny you mentioned that, that little truck has a huge spread. Friend was at the dealer and was looking a nice suv for his finace, asked about the Arcadi, damn thing is priced like an base Explorer or 4Runner at about 30K, but can shoot up to GMC Yukon Denali pricing. Cousin got his 07' Denali for 45K. That's too big of a spread, 45K for that, pr 45K for Denali.....yeh, guess which one I'd go with and pry 99% of others as well lol.

Hey GM is or will have March madnrss starting the 15MR07. Foreign cars provide no work to Americans.

While I drive American cars, the statement above is just not true. Most foreign cars consistent of equal or more American parts these days and factories are here also. It is the profit from the sale of foreign cars , that goes back to the specific economy and thus hurts us. ;)

On the Toyota Highlander, they are only taking 1800 off the MSRP. The Explorer they just come off 2300. This SUXS! I know in the past dealers would come off like 4-7k. Heck they came off 7K on my truck in 05. Honda I had they came off 4500 back in 97. Looking at a GMC now.

Jeep SRT-8, I'm in love after testing that truck:righton:, tell her to screw the car like ride lol.

GMC acadia looks nice. A lot of these crossovers are becoming really big right now. I guess you could also look at the buick/pontiac versions (or is one a chevy?). Also the Ford edge, but then you would have to get edge pads to use on it. :)

You really can't go wrong with GM considering it's 100k mile warranty.
And I'm sure safety rating of it is higher then Highlander.

Hey Sparkie, Just a thought... Have you tried looking into an "Online" Purchase? I did this with my Ridgeline. Received a price quote from the "Online" Salesman (Tax, Tags, Title, accessories,Plus a $290.00 Customer Service Fee) Bottom line, out the door $3,500 below MSRP even with all the above added in..... Is the Pilot even in the running?

Sparks, stop being a wuss, tell that woman no x-over will be allowed at the house::D
