I brought home a new wrangler, and i'm wondering if there is any suggestions on what to use to preserve the large plastic fenders and bumpers. Living in the south Florida's sunny weather really takes a toll on the exterior of the car.
I have been using UTTG for about 3 years now on my camaro however, I have been out of the detailing world for awhile now and do not know if there is any new products that blow UTTG outa the water.
any suggestions are welcomed.

UTTG has a couple of stablemates now, Wolfgang Exterior Trim Sealant, and Blackfire Total Trim and Tire Sealant. Also there is a new formula of UTTG (water-based).

Or you could go with a coating like Carpro DLux. If you've been having good success with the UTTG I'd just stick with that.
 
i completely forgot about dlux ! . I purchased a bottle about a year ago and just remembered i had it ! thank you all for the suggestions.

on hard trim, i'd use Opti-Lens or Gloss-Coat WAY before i'd use DLux.

yes, DLux is marketed for trim and wheels, but i've dealt with it and it's not nearly as durable as the Optimum options. some elbow grease, an alkaline APC and old mf will remove it. is it better than a lot of the trim stuff out there? absolutely! is it the best? nope.

I believe he's talking about Dlux.

Opti Lens on black plastics..never thought of using it that way.

He's calling about his bottle of Dlux...Gloss coat on hard trim huh? May just have to try that out :props:
 
well corey confirmed the dlux is is likely expired. 1 year shelf life unopened and mine was opened for a single application..

now this brings me to my next question. How well will the opti lens and or gloss coat hold up ? im trying to avoid a glossy trim finish if possible.
 
i also have a practically new syringe of opti coat 2.0... will that be too much ?

seriously, i think your best bet is to email or call Dr. G and ask him. i think 2.0 would be ideal...but between all three, i just don't know. if you get a hold of him, please share what he ends up telling you because this isn't the last time this will come up!
 
Looking over the products, I think the coating will give the plastic a glossy look. Trying to avoid that finish as much as possible. Might try applying 2.0 in a small unoticeable area
