New detail menu; looking for feedback

Thanks!

No, it is a trifold brochure that I print out and hand out with biz cards, etc. This is just a link to the digital format (pdf). My website is under construction still.

Nice work! I like it a lot great idea:)

Looks Good!

I like how you have each level priced separately for Interior and Exterior. I see a lot of detailing websites having combo packages with a combined price for interior/ exterior (my website included, been thinking about changing that).

I thought I read one of Mike's threads where he felt services should be price the way you've done it, and how most detailers offering packages with a total price.

Again Good Job, like your concept.

Good Luck :dblthumb2:

Thanks for your input and comments :dblthumb2:

I did have "combo" prices in there at one revision point. I took them out so I could use that at a selling opportunity to mix and match services based on interior/exterior need. (something I gleaned from Renny's book).

Thanks again!

Justin-

How do you plan to use your brochure? Are you going to go door-to-door and stick them in people’s mailboxes or are you planning to hand them out to select prospective customers? My impression is that your ‘target’ market is people who are at least somewhat familiar with the art of detailing a vehicle. Am I correct?

In order to really assess whether the brochure will fulfill its intended purpose, it would be helpful to know “who” you are hoping to reel in as a customer by using it and how you plan to dispense it.

Good question, I don't know all the answers completely yet as I just started using the brochure.

Here is how I have used it so far; I have handed it out to various auto shops (specialized shops so far) along with biz cards for referral business. I have emailed it out to previous customers, friends, family, etc for electronic distribution.

Here is how I plan to use it further; Hand it out in person at various car events, shows, gatherings, races (I do a lot of SCCA/BMWCCA events and things). Deliver it to future customers at time of service along with biz cards. Whatever else I can think of in the future where it might be useful.

Door to door and mailbox drops are not in my plan as of right now. I am trying to target specific parts of the market yes, and some may have an idea about detailing. Only time will tell how well it works of course. I figure one additional tool in the marketing tool box is better than not having it :)

Thanks buddy I appreciate it :xyxthumbs:

Also, if anyone is wanting to do something similar, I posted what I used to make the trifold in a previous reply. Here it is again:

OpenOffice as the word processor and the following trifold brochure template:
https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct...XQxtmQccgCfY_Mg&bvm=bv.57155469,d.cGE&cad=rja

Thanks for sharing that! I thought the idea of having a brochure was pointless with having an online site and possibly social media, but then I had several people who never get online if I had flyers/brochures/etc. so it seems like still a good idea to approach that market. Looks good.

I like it, just a couple thoughts:

1-I shy away from using the word durable with carauba wax (check spelling on that), my opinion is that there is no such thing, especially when you tell them they should reapply every 6-8 weeks. Maybe change it to gloss enhancing carnauba wax. You use the same words for the glaze, you can then explain the difference between a glaze, a wax, and a sealant.

2- speaking of sealants, all of your packages offer a sealant, what if I don't want a sealant? Maybe I just want a wax. Could say "sealant or wax".

3- I noticed in your responses that you remove the wheels for doing wheel well cleaning. Personal opinion, I don't want people removing my wheels and I don't like removing others. I spend too much time taking care of my lug nuts to make sure they do not get nicked/scratched and start to rust. Your price for the service isn't bad, but my first impression was---what are you doing in the wheel wells for $20. I thought $20 was steep for a quick brush wash and dressing. Also, would you charge the same for a car with 4 wheel wells that are difficult to get into as you do a truck that you can almost crawl into and clean? Considering that the rear wells are very easy to get into and wash/wipe out. I would argue with you on your price saying that you don't need to remove my wheels to clean the wells. Plus some will be worse that others.

This is just one example of how people can pick apart your upsales. I would remove the price and just list the services stating that prices vary based on type and condition of vehicle

Looks great! very informative. i like how you explained everything in every package. hope this works good for you!

First off, thanks for the responses, this brochure is a living document so I am always looking at ways to make it better.

1. Noted on the carnuba wax wording.

2. Actually my Level 1 has a spray wax application. I may consider changing the Level 3 to "sealant or wax". However, my goal with the Level 3 was to provide the most protection via a sealant. If I have to educate the customer on why I recommend a sealant over a wax, that is fine. It also gives me the opportunity to sell a wax on top of the sealant. Of course, I would absolutely do a wax if the customer wanted that.

3. I do not remember saying I would remove wheels to do wheel well cleaning (I wouldn't). If I did it was a mistake. I would only remove wheels for the "Deep wheel cleaning" where the wheels get cleaned and protected inside and out. My disclaimer on prices covers me in the event I come across a car that will require some extra work get the wells clean. That is something I just work through with the customer.

Also, check your spelling, it's carnauba wax.

My bad on the wheel well cleaning, I was skimming through and read something incorrectly...still wouldn't include prices on add-ons...just my opinion, but that is also advised in many books and articles on creating detailing menus and tri-folds. Disclaimers work, but people get upset if you charge more since "they're car isn't that bad". I know I always get upset and feel like someone is trying to shaft me when they up the "advertised" price on me.

Sheesh can't believe I had that spelled wrong this whole time. Spell checker failed me :o

Yea I have been struggling with whether or not to show the prices. I read the same thing in Renny's book about not showing prices. But for me, the shops I have left brochures at have asked for price listings, so I compromised and put the "Starting at..." prices.

Guess I will see how it goes. Thanks again for sharing your thoughts.

Most people would never have noticed...how many people in the detailing world on this forum read it without noticing? It probably jumped out at me because I was labeling some new bottles last night and wrote it about 15 times. Your average customer doesn't know the difference between carnauba and candle wax let alone carnuba and carnauba.

Think I am going to switch up the add-ons to not show a price as suggested. Give me a little room to work prices for additional services.

Thank you for this one. I haven't thought of this until I read your post.

I love the trifold approach too... It can give customers a brief description of the services offered. :)
