New Driveway.

Hey everybody, Im sure someone of here is a par time contractor or DIYer. I am thinking about redoing my driveway as it is all destroyed and needs to be repaved. I would like to know what I would need. And what are the best products to use on the driveway.

Asphalt or concrete? If it is concrete, you can resurface it, but you may be better off getting some bids and hiring someone to do it. Concrete driveways need to be at least 4 inches thick in most cities to meet code.

Concrete would be the way to go. Asphalt is not as durable.

Concrete. Our asphalt driveway is currently being torn up for a new concrete one. Less maintenance.

Here in Bend, OR, we have near freezing temps almost 6 months out of the year and asphalt seems to hold up better than concrete. People who have used a de-icer have their sidewalks and drive ways breaking apart.
Our driveway faces North, so we get no direct sun in the winter.

I always suggest if having concrete done get a good sealer on after. Defently helps protect specially in winter, of course if have snow and such.
