Hello! My name is David, I'm 24, and currently I'm in Rhode Island but I'll be relocating in the coming months back to the West coast. I never knew too much about detailing until recent months when I decided to dive in head first when I bought my truck last month (a 2012 F-150 Lariat with 20k miles on it). I've always been a stickler for keeping things clean and look forward to babying my truck. I also have a '99 Camry that I want to do some restoration on too. It's I'm good shape, but I'm sure it needs to be clayed pretty badly. I'm not in a place where I have the place to do much for the exteriors right now, but I'm starting out with the interiors and I'll work my way to the outside when I relocate. I'm impressed by all the honest and helpful people on here. I look forward to learning and hopefully contributing one day.

Welcome David:)
I just turned 98 last month and still love detailing:)

Hi David! I'm in RI as well! Where are you moving to?

welcome and nice choice of truck!

Rinseless washes are great if you dont have a water hose hook up :)

If you have an electric out relatively close by you can get her nice and polished up! :D

Thank you all for the warm welcome. It's definitely nice considering how cold it is here in Newport. Unfortunately I don't have an outlet handy, so I'm searching around for places where I can park and use one once there's a break on this weather. I don't know exactly where I'll be moving yet. I'm getting out of the Navy and am job hunting currently, but it's looking like I'll most likely end up in southern California, around where I grew up.
And I can't wait to polish and wax the truck and it's a gorgeous blue that already has a good deep character to it and I know it will look amazing once I get the chance to actually work on it!

Everyone is excited for their first polish! Especially on a new truck

Have you chosen your products and tools?

I'm still nailing down the products I'm going to use, but the ones I'm thinking of so far are:

Porter Cable 7424XP

Various 5.5"x7/8"CCS foam pads

Wolfgang Uber Compound 3.0

I haven't finally decided on a polish, glaze, sealant, and wax yet. I'd like a sealant that lasts a while that I can put a wax on top of...

Pinnacle Ultra Poly clay and lubricant.

I haven't nailed down a product for the tires and rims yet, or a black trim restorer/protectant.

Already have a chinelle microfiber wash not and some guzzler waffle weave towels for drying

That's what I've got so far. I already have the DP line of interior cleaners and protectant and have some Lexol on the way for the leather. I also have the $50 Carrand vacuum cleaner. Seems to work great so far.

I'm definitely open to suggestions on how to fill in what I haven't decided on yet or make changes to what I've planned!
