NEW FLEX Cordless 3401 aka the FLEX Cordless BEAST!

I present.....

The FLEX Cordless 3401

Bob Eichelberg and his team from FLEX North America and also from Germany shared this long-awaited tool at SEMA and because there's been a lot of buzz in the cyberworld as well as videos and pictures going around, I called Bob today and he gave me permission to fully let the cat out of the bag.

This is my personal Cordless FLEX 3401 presented to me by Bob Eichelberg himself at SEMA.

This is the Number #1 first-run production unit.

This uses the same head design as the current FLEX XFE7-15 aka the Finisher.

Like the Finisher, the cooling vents are in the backing plate, not the shroud.

FLEX Cordless tools use FLEX brushless technology

Here's the production run tag with the number 01001 - the numbering started with this tool.

Immediately after giving me this tool I wrote my name on it just in case someone chose to lift this tool before I could get it safely home.

If you want battery life specs, see my original article on the cordless FLEX PE14 and XFE7-15 here,

Battery Time - FLEX Cordless Polishers - Real World Detail by Mike Phillips at Autogeek

These two cordless FLEX polishers were also gifts from Bob Eichelberg and FLEX Power Tools at the 2017 SEMA show

Thank you Bob and everyone at FLEX for your trust.

I already have a very cool swirled-out 2-door Chevy schedule to do the very first documented test of this new gear-driven, cordless FLEX polisher.

Availability
At this time Bob Eichelberg projects these new cordless FLEX 3401 tools will not be available until July. If it happens sooner then time to celebrate!

This presents an amazing trio to have as a mobile detailer. I don’t know what to do anymore!

I recently had all my buffers stolen including my original Flex Finisher that I won during the “Name That Tool” contest...and I’m getting all that sorted out on the back end of things.

In the meantime, I am on the market for some new toys.

With the release of this as well as everything else going...WOW!

What a home run Flex!

Sweet!!!:buffing:

Are they coming out with a new corded model as well?

Says a lot that they would give you the first production unit! I believe they gave you the first 14-2 also??? This unit looks great! combines the 3401 and XFE 15 designs into one cordless unit. I like the backing plate design of the XFE 15 and I'm glad to see it here on the new 3401 cordless. Cant wait to get one. Thanks for sharing the pics, Mike!

Mike Thank you for the info. I'll be ordering one when they come out.

I like the new design. Hopefully it will run cooler. The one thing I never liked about my original 3401 is how hot the metal shroud got.

I agree. Cordless has been the trend for other tools industries for decades, now detailing.

Sorry to hear that. Someone at SEMA asked me if I was the guy that came up with the nickname the Finisher and I told them "no" it was a guy on the AGO discussion forum. You get all the credit for the Finisher nickname. I'm happy to take credit for the BEAST nickname. And for anyone that has not seen last year's FLEX catalog or this year's FLEX catalog the FLEX company OFFICIALLY does in fact refer to these two tools and the Beast and the Finisher.

Pretty cool to be the two guys that were able to nickname MAJOR tools in our industry.

I agree. There's more to come in the future.

My guinea pig car to test out the Cordless BEAST will be here today or tomorrow. Or maybe we should just call it the,

CBEAST

I've been told it's in rough shape so this should be a great car to really put the CBeast through it's paces.

Well I see you did win a prize! The FLEX crew and Bob know you well, it will get lots of use and get an honest opinion on the performance. FLEX has pushed up the 'bar' for the competition on forced rotation units!

Have fun and hope to try it in 2019.

Fantastic! :buffing:

Wow, that is awesome Bob gave you #1 Mike, what an honour & a worthy recipient indeed. :props:

I had wondered if this CBEAST was still in the pipeline, it had gone quiet with any mentions of it. Us Kiwis only started getting the Cordless XFE15 150 a couple of Months back (I believe I had the first two in NZ . . . okay, one belongs to Ange, she wanted her own one after using mine.) & I am very pleased with its performance to date. Such a sweet feeling tool in hand, the build quality & balance is typical Flex - beautiful. :dblthumb2:

We are yet to have the Cordless PE but after using the Milwaukee Cordless Rotary for quite some time now, the Flex is on my list of must haves.

This one though! This one I will be pining for! I want this in my arsenal for sure. I'm guessing I will be waiting alot longer than you guys State side & although not the best at being patient . . . . I'll wait the best I can.

Thank you for the review Mike, congratulations on the new additions to your collection & big props to Flex for not only producing brilliant tools but for recognising the asset i our industry that is Mr Mike Phillips! :props:

Bob Eichelberg....if you're reading this, I'll take production #100!

Christmas is coming soon.

I can put in a good word for you but once these tools go into full production it's going to be the luck-of-the-draw

Bob told me over the phone he doesn't expect these new CBEASTs to start shipping until July BUT if they start shipping sooner then I'm confident that Autogeek will have a great promotion going...

:)

Did Flex stick with the 8mm orbit on the cordless or did they opt for a smaller orbit and faster forced spin to save on battery power?
