NEW FLEX XCE 3401 Corded and Cordless Polishers!

I just got off the phone with Customer Service. It's a sad day here. I was told that flex is having trouble manufacturing the item, and therefore the possible ship date it Mid-November as they are not coming in until Mid-October. I was hoping to use it on my vehicles this year, but Mid-November will obviously be too cold in my area to use The Beast. Torn with cancelling my order and waiting until next year when the weather will allow me to use this on my vehicles.

I just don't understand as I was told the first shipment was already on it way back in late August/September and I was one of the first on the pre-order wait lists. Ordered first day very soon after the product went live.

I have Chris Metcalf on the phone right now as I type.

Both the FLEX XFE Cordless Finisher and ECE Cordless BEAST use the same backing plate, and there was a delay in production not a problem. The backing plates were upgraded to a superior design and "yes" this did cause a delay, but FLEX is past this aspect of producing the backing plates and the new tools are being manufactured at the FLEX facility in Germany.

The first shipment leaving Germany is next week. Figure 2-3 weeks on the water (on a ship), and then they have to go through Customs. Once through Customers, Autogeek will be the first to get the first shipments.

So I realize everyone is excited to get the new FLEX tools and I also realize that everyone has been patient, but the tools are in production and the first shipment leaves Germany next week.

In fact, Chris told me while he's there next week, he'll take a picture of the tools being packed into the shipping totes and send it to me. (I'm also sending him the link to this thread)

:)

That's good news, Thank you for the update Mike. Looking forward to the pictures as well.

spazzz,

It's not an engineering mistake, it's simply a new engineered design.

It had to be changed. It's not like a group of people sat in a room an found a way to make the design DIFFERENT just to screw people out of being able to use an OLD backing plate on a NEW tool.

Besides the fact that this is normal anytime you improve and upgrade things in the world, (anyone have an old iPhone or iPad that they CANNOT update the software?), backing plates wear out. Specifically the velcro HOOKS on the backing plate wear out. anyone that uses any tool that uses a velcro interface on the backing plate, (about 99.9% of all orbital polishers), has had to, or will need to, at some point throw away the original backing plate and purchase a REPLACEMENT - because everything wears out, even you and I.

Everyone LOVES the new design but it means things have changed. (for the better).

So "no" the original backing plate design for the original design of the FLEX 3401 (with the ALUMINUM SHROUD), will not fit the NEW DESIGN of the new FLEX 3401 with the lightweight, PLASTIC SHROUD.

I'll take pictures to show the differences and I think most people that are FLEX users will agree, the new design is how they say,

New and improved!

:)

Can u put the new backing plates on the old machine?

....

Text from Chris while he's in Germany on Tuesday says he'll send me pictures on Thursday of Friday.

It's Wednesday night as I type this.

Mike Thank you very much for keeping us up to date on the arrival of the CBEAST.

Mike any update on the photos?

Yes!

Chris sent me the photos but I have not been able to upload them to the forum as I’ve been on the set of My Classic Car for the last 2 days and now I’m going through security to fly home.

:)

My limit to add photos via Tapatalk has maxed out, (never had this happen before?)

So I’ve attached the image file via my Safari browser.

Next I’ll try to get the URL code and insert the image to make it easy to see.

Big picture is - the tools are built, loaded on a boat and headed to America!

Where do you film My Classic Car at? By chance, do you have any pictures while you were filming, or can you not show anything until the episode runs?

Thanks

The TV studio is in Evansville, Indiana

I’ll share some “behind the scenes pics” next week.

Just boarded our flight from Atlanta to West Palm Beach.

Mike Thank you for going the extra mile and posting the photos while in the airport. Getting closer.

My bad, I thought you were back in the office......

You were just a couple of hours from me. I could of met up with you and took you to get some good 'ole Owensboro BBQ.

Is that where Mr. Gage lives or just the studio where it's filmed?

Don't cancel your order if you want the tool over 1 detail. Plus we get warm stretches in november/december sometimes.
