Hello, I've been an avid reader of this forum for a little over 2 months since I've purchased a new Black Dodge Challenger...

The reason I decided to join the forum is to look for help with an issue.

I'm seeing little tiny micro scratches on the side mirrors and side windows...they can only be seen in direct sunlight (you cannot "feel" them at all), otherwise you'd think they weren't there.

I'm hoping not to have to replace the windows and mirrors and was wondering if there was something I could do to "polish" these out...I'm not a detailer and taking a rotary drill to buff my windows with polish is not "my cup of tea"...

Is there something I can try other then the rotary drill/buffer scenario?

First of all, Welcome to AGO! You are in for a world of knowledge, and you will probably wish you didn't join when you look at your bank statement lol.

As for your mirror problem, it sounds to me like something that can be fixed, but I am not sure without seeing it. And I cannot really recommend anything without a picture of the problem. Would it be possible for you to take a picture of the affected areas in the sun?

Yes, I'll try to take some pictures of this when I get home from work and post the pictures.
Hopefully they'll show up in a picture...

I've never seen anything like this (and I'm pretty old)...

When it comes to abrading glass in an effort to remove "material" so as to level the surface it's really only practical to use a rotary buffer. Even with the power of a rotary buffer it's still a little tricky...

Here are some images I took...they don't do it justice at all (camera and light thing I guess)...but when you look at these think of it like 100X worse all over the window, it really is A LOT WORSE then you can see in the pictures.

I talked to another AutoGlass replacement guy (just got back) and he seemed to think that it wasn't scratches at all...but could be residue from the Acrylic sealant I had done by a detail guy...the arcylic residue was rubbed into the glass pores and they couldn't see it because it was all done in the shade.

He said if it really were scratches that you would be able to "feel" them and that it felt more smooth than anything else, plus you would be able to see them even if you weren't in direct sunlight...the "rainbow" effect I am seeing was just the sunlight hitting that acrylic...

He didn't know how and what I could use to "clean" the glass of this acrylic as it dries "hard" and probably would be difficult to remove? ...but he also said it would probably wear off after awhile.

Anyone think this is possible?
