How's everyone doing? I just signed up a few days ago and I've been reading and searching on different topics. There is definitely a wealth of knowledge here and I'm looking forward to learn from everyone. I think I've already made up my mind with the buffer/polisher that I want to buy. I'm leaning towards the Flex 3401 since I've heard nothing but fantastic results with it and I've never used a rotary before. I'm looking for some opinions as to what everyone thinks will work for my situation.

I have a Mineral Gray, 2005, 4x4 2500 Ram, quad cab short bed, 5.9 cummins with the NV5600 which see's a fair amount of time on dirt roads and on salty winter roads. The truck is in excellent shape for what its been through with minor swirl marks that I'd like to remove. My normal routine up until this point has been to wash the truck, clay it, and apply wax by hand. Like I said I'd like to buy the Flex 3401 VRG with a 6.5" pad and an assortment of Pinnacle products. I'm looking for a swirl remover along with wax that I'd like to apply and take off by buffer. Is Pinnacle XMT a good line to go with or should I go with a better line of Pinnacle if they make it? What pads should I go with? I heard Lake Country makes good pads. Any and all help is much appreciated!

Thank You! Where are you from? I live about a block away from the Inner Harbor in Baltimore City but commute to Annapolis for work.

Another welcome from a fellow Maryland resident. Living just outside the beltway in Owings Mills. I have always used Lake Country pads (had the CCS pads, now trying the smaller 5.5" flat pads with my PC7424 first generation) and found them pretty good. Haven't used the Pinnacle line though, so I can't comment on that.

And I would hate to be driving a quad cab in downtown B'more every day.....

Hey Neil,
Thanks for the welcome! I have a big vehicle so I'm thinking it would be best to go with the 6.5" pads to help reduce the time needed to finish the truck. I'm wondering how the 6.5" pad will do when trying to do the "A" pillars with the big pads. I'm sure a smaller pad would be more ideal in this situation but I'm not sure how small of a pad I can go on the Flex 3401. On a brighter note, it could be worse and I could have the quad cab long bed which would be a pain in the arse to get around in but it's really not that bad. I have a pretty tight turning radius and get home from work before most so I always have a spot. :props: Parallel parking can be a pain when getting home late.

From what I have read, I think you would be fine with 6.5" pads with the Flex, but do some searching on your own just to be sure. There are plenty of threads on the Flex. I switched to the smaller pads because I have the first generation PC7424 which does not have the forced rotation of the Flex.

For the A pillars, I have a 3 inch backing pad and 4 inch Lake Country pads. Not sure if they work on the Flex, but I am sure a search will provide you an answer.
