Hi everyone! Air Force lieutenant (ex student pilot, former enlisted AMMO troop) at Columbus AFB, Columbus, MS. I've been learning and practicing detailing for about three years now, but since getting my Atomic Orange 2007 Corvette Z06, I've jumped in with both feet. I'm even doing friends' cars for them, fixing scratches and swirls.

Anyone else from MS or Air Force here?

(My dad has a Vette too)

Greetings! Central Ms here. Dont think there are a lot of us around.

Im a pickup man myself. But my ole lady drives one of them raggedy camaros.:)

Thanks all! Smack, I went TDY to Spang in 2005 for USAFE Ammo Bowl- loved every second of it!

Lazyghost, MS isn't the most happening spot for high-end detailing. Most people here are wash-and-dry kinda folks. Good to know I'm not the only one!

Welcome!

Doss Victim?

How did you know...hahaha I sure am. The program is awesome, but made it painfully clear that I'm not very apt to the flyboy side of the house.

Doss is the civilian-run USAF flight screening contract company. They have a fleet of little Diamond DA20 planes (little planes) that they use to "firehose"-style train student pilots to fly up to Air Force standards. It's designed to be tough and fast-paced to better prepare the student pilots for undergraduate pilot training (UPT).

They wash out 10-20% of their candidates...I was one of the unfortunate.

Ah, who am I kidding...it's preschool for pilots.

I went, hated it. The entire atmosphere of washing people out is just ridiculous, my biggest issue was the instructors seeming to want to fail people instead of wanting people to succeed, I get that it happens and in the long run saves Big Blue money, but let the syllabus do it. I have issues hearing instructors talking about so and so isn't going to make it through before they even fail.

Imagine never going to class on something you know nothing about then showing up to a 1 hour review before the exam and passing.

That's pretty much it.

Either way sweet Atomic Orange I hope they bring it back for the C7.

Yeah, the civilian personnel there start out alright but turn pretty nasty after the dollar ride. And the analogy of going to class....dead on.

What did you end up doing? Did you pass? What are you doing now? My reclass stuff is being released to me tomorrow morning.

Thanks for the compliment, Atomic Orange is my all-time favorite Corvette color. Not sure how I feel about it on a C7 though...
