Hey all, I just recently (about 2 weeks ago) picked up a 2003 Dodge Stratus coupe for 2500 bux and i hate to say it but it needs some serious help. The clearcoat on the roof, and parts of the rear quarter panels is peeling and flaking to the point of having to do a wet sand, and repaint/reclear. The hood has some pretty rough oxidation, and part of the dash right next to the defrost vents is coming up. I picked up some buffing compound and turtlewax at O'Reilly's and ive already started the wetsand process but im a little lost on the next step in replenishing its paint. Is there anyone that can help guide me through the remaining steps? I greatly appreciate it in advance .

Hi, welcome to AutoGeekOnline.

There is nothing you can do other than take it to a body shop to have it repainted.

Unless you are seriously wanting to take on this arduous task... First off, do you have a garage this can be completed in?

Unfortunately i do not have a garage. Ive already started the process and was able to wet sand the white, flaky, edge down to a smooth surface exposing just the paint. ive been told by both autozone and O reilys that i can dupli-color followed by clearcoat, and then buff and polish. On the hood, i was able to take part if not most the almost black oxidation off the surface almost matching it to the rest of the car.

Welcome to Autogeek from the Great White North of Arizona. I am curious to see how this works out for you. I have some small areas on my vehicle where the clear coat is gone and have wondered about fixing it with a spray can. Please share your process.

Thanks guys, appreciate it. If anyone has anything to add please feel free. I'll be sure to keep ya posted. Trying to find the right paint code seems to be a pita.😂
