My old generator was a tad small for my carpet extractor. I got by with what I had, but it was putting a strain on my Generator.

I have been shopping around, looking to buy. I placed my old generator on craigslist for sale, and met with a guy interested. It was too small for him, so he passed...bummer.

I headed off to Lowes to recheck some prices. So I was in the generator isle when a guy passed through looking at them too. He said "Damn, this is all they have. Too much money for me."

DING DING DING. I light bulb lit up above my head. I walked up the guy and asked if he were looking for a smaller, cheaper one. YUP

I told him I had one for sale, it is in the bed of my truck in the parking lot. SO a trip to the parking lot, I made the deal. Sold it right there on the spot. I took the $200, went back inside, and bought a bigger one. So it was like getting my new one at $200 off the price... SWEET

Here is what I got....

5,000-Watt / 6,250 Starting Watts Portable Generator

I wanted the electric start one, but I didn't want to pay an extra $100 for it.

Looks Good! It's great that you were able to sell you old one.

I got a new generator right after hurricane Charley. We had been without power for 6 days and I finally found a store that got some in. When I got it home with the generator our power was back on. Northern Tool would not take it back so it's still in the box in my garage. I forgot how many watts is has but it has something like a 16 hp Honda engine. Hopefully I would need it any time soon.

That thing is a hoss!

My brother has one just like it for his home building. How's your set up coming.....you new one that is?

Wow! Talk about being at the right place at the right time! Sweet!! To be able to sell the old one in the store parking lot and then go in to get the bigger one........too good to be true! Congrats to you!

Thanks guys.

Justin, it's coming along. My old generator fit flush with my bed rails, and everything else was below, except my water tank. I found a water tank that fit below the bed rails, and I was going to buy a tonneau cover for security... BUT..........(LOL)

Since I picked up the new generator, it sits way above the bed rails. I am now looking for a decent fiberglass camper shell, possibly one without windows. Then comes the problem of getting into the bed, so I thought about the contractor camper shells. Expensive, and the search for used isn't the best.

Though, I would like to take the bed off of the truck and fab up something like this.....

Nice working it my friend! My dad's generator is wicked, it's a Honda and apparantly it's got enough juice to power half of the house.

Glad you were able to get a new one, good luck with it!

The generator I have is the same watts and I haven't been able to bog it down once. You will have no problem running whatever you need too with that.

BTW that setup on that truck is sweet. Please pm the links if you don't mind.

Nice Coleman gen you bought. My new one is about that size, it is a Briggs & Stratton 4800 fits nicely in my trailer

Enjoy the new generator. Certainly enough power. I had a 10hp B&S generator before my current one (same as one you sold). Before that one I had a small B&S generator. Both had similar problems that developed. Hopefully others haven't experienced them. In both the engines were rock solid, big thumbs up. I'm not sure if your generator has a riveted pull start but the rivets sheered off on both of mine. 1st one I bolted it back on, last one I had to keep riveting. The other problem I had was the frame welds on both broke. On the 10hp one I had the plastic gas tank crack. Another annoying problem was the gas cap has a tiny vent hole on top. On two occasions water got in it and I had to drain the fuel system. You'll have a cover but if you get caught in the rain keep it in mind. Also nice price on the sale of the old generator, $200 is awesome if you paid anywhere what I paid for mine ($250).
