New GMC Truck- suggestions on Wax

Good choices. :xyxthumbs: I've been using UTTG+ on my tonneaus for a while and it's longer lasting than most protectants. The jumbo Ultima foam pad is the perfect size for doing a large area. If you find UTTG+ a bit glossy or greasy for your tastes buff off after application and it'll tone down a bit. The Ultima beads like crazy and compliments the insane beading of 845.

On glossy black plastic and GMC grill trim I've been using 845. If the material is clean and unfaded where no restoration is needed it works great. I use it on black window trim and wiper arms as well. UTTG+ works better on the windshield cowling though.

Since you've got a new vehicle now is the best time to keep things from getting crappy in the first place. A couple of coats of 845 on the rear painted wheel wells will keep them easy to clean. I prefer CD2 in engine bays. I hit the paint, plastic... everything. Then I wipe down the excess for a more matte look. Once coated a light wipe after you dry the vehicle will keep everything looking like new. Use the wiping towel with CD2 residue to wipe down your front plastic inner fender well liners and they'll be easy to keep clean as well.

GM doesn't coat the inner barrels of most of their truck wheels. You've got one chance to get some sealant on the aluminum when new and then keep them clean otherwise once they get crudded up you'll never get them back. A Daytona SpeedMaster brush or EZ Detail brush or something similar is a good investment.

Collinite on black plastic? Must hold up better that UTTG?

Are you guys pulling my leg? Collinite is a cleaner wax, why would I want to put a cleaner wax on a brand new vehicle. The dealer put a Simoniz Glass coat on it before it left the dealership.

Sounds like even more of a reason to apply collinite!

Sorry, I messed up. I got Collinite 845 and 850 mixed up. I think I need to get on some kind of medication to clear my head.

I've got a Black Denali and I've used Maxwax over WDGPS 3.0 with good results! But this is from a guy who used raindance and turtle wax his whole life!

Wow, Black Denali. I think one can be as good as the other but longevity is the issue. I've followed Consumer Repots recommendations on waxes, tried them and found something not quite right with their suggestions. Turtle wax is decent.

What a bummer, someone took a shot at my tailgate with a BB gun. It left a ding and the paint flaked off. The truck is not even a week old.

Have you considered one of the new coatings we now carry?

What did you get?

:)
I got a GMC Sierra. Thank you Mike for pointing me in the right direction. I read everything and some of it twice. Some of the guys like the Collinite and UTTG so I'll give it a try. I just found a BB ding on my tail gate. Ya got to love the guy that shot my truck because it's against the law to kill him.

So many great choices Four Start with polycharger, Optimum Opti Seal, DP policoat, Duragloss 501, collinite 845 or 476, FK 1000p or one less popular and one of my favs ilt Hamber Finis wax. The grille if not texured use collinite 845 the cover 303.

I would suggest Optimum Car Wax - no curing times, very extremely easy to apply, etc. It will get you more protection for a few months for very little effort or concerns about applying thinly etc.
