New! Griot's Garage Heavy Duty Wheel Cleaner - in Action!

Two questions:
How long did you agitate inside the barrels or how many strokes with the brush between each spoke?
Do you have an "after" picture of closeup of the inside of the barrel you can show?

Although it didn't take long to clean the wheel, we didn't time it or count the exact amount of brush strokes.

No after picture of the wheel barrel either. But I can tell you that the HD Wheel Cleaner is definitely more powerful than your average wheel cleaner and made cleaning a breeze. :props:

Thanks for the review Nick,
How does this compare to P21S and Sonax?

i use oil eater for wheels now. 1 Gal = $11.49. 20:1 dilution for coated wheels so it goes a very long way. IMO, works better than OPC. But i must say, i have almost every griots product that ever came out, they all work very well. I <3 Griots. for an enthusiast who drives his queen more often than not, this product is for you.

This sounds to be a great cleaner. I just got some Brown Royal and I might give this a shot next. Seems like the 2nd most economical cleaner that's safe for all types of wheels.

Like I said in the giveaway thread 32oz bottle for 16.99 that has about the same effect as Sonax gets a big win.

Will order some up next time.

This looks really cool, I'll have to give it a try.

You want it, you got it. :xyxthumbs:

I want it because you already did the Sonax and P21s. I want to see the comparison of this wheel cleaner when you don't scrub it at all and just use a PW to remove the cleaner solution.

Thanks and great job on the videos!

Just swung over to the GG HQ and grabbed a bottle. The woman has the GTI today so it looks like I'll have to wait for a little bit to try this one out.

This new Griots Heavy Duty wheel cleaner must be flying off the shelves?
I placed my order for it yesterday and today I receive an AG email it's on back-order.

from what I understand they are expecting an order of it in shortly, so hopefully the backorder won't last too long.

Can't wait to try it against Sonax and IronX :)

If one has to "agitate", won't any wheel cleaner work well in most cases? I guess it could depend on the current state of the wheels? I would like to see it's effectiveness w/o the 'agitation". Spray. Wait. Hose.

Unless the wheel has very light dirt and dust, any wheel cleaner that doesn't contain harsh chemicals is going to require agitation from a brush.

Sure, you could spray the wheel down with brake cleaner and simply hose it off to reveal a wheel free of dirt and brake dust, but you're also going to trash the wheel in the process.

Griot's Heavy Duty Wheel Cleaner, Sonax Full Effect, and the P21S Gel are the safest, most effective means of cleaning a wheel without resorting to heavy chemicals that will cause damage to the wheel's finish.

What makes those wheel cleaners different from others is the amount of agitation that's necessary to clean the wheel. Not only that, but each one of those wheel cleaners is safe for all wheel types, so you can clean any wheel and be confident that you aren't going to cause any damage.

^ Thanks. I guess my wheels never get bad enough to where simple car soap won't clean them, along with minor hand washing. I used EO AtoZ once, and that stuff is harsh. You also go through the bottle very quickly. That's why I only tried it once.

Lucky for me I actually live near Griots' flagship store in Tacoma, WA and happen to be making a trip down there this afternoon. Definitely gonna give this stuff a try.
