After nearly 6 months of lurking, I finally decided to join the forum. I'm just a detailing enthusiast versus a professional doing it for money. I find that being alone with a car in the garage away from all forms of communication is a very therapeutic experience. Then there is the satisfaction of having a shiny car when I am finished.

About my detailing hobby... For at least 15 years I used a 10" random orbital buffer on my vehicles, and in December 2014, I finally decided to move to a Porter Cable 7424XP. I mainly moved because I found the 10" buffer to be too big for most of the car. I also embraced these new polymer technology paint coatings. They seem to have come a long way in the last five years.

Oh well, I'm rambling on, time to do some more research.

Welcome!

We're in a similar situation. I detail for a hobby, I recently got a DA, I'm really liking paint sealant and I'm from Louisiana!

Where from? I'm Baton Rouge area.

Lafayette here. I worked in Baton Rouge from the late 90s to mid 2000s and the acid rain was rough on the carnauba wax that I used back then.

Yep. Garage is a must to keep the paint nice.
