Hey everybody!

I've been a long-time lurker and have finally decided to make an account because I feel like I can finally contribute to the knowledge bank here. I picked up a copy of Renny Doyle's book and haven't been able to put it down.

Currently, I'm 23 years old and a full-time firefighter looking to make some extra money on the side and start a mobile detailing business. Most firemen have other jobs on the side that they did long before getting into the fire service, but it has been all I've known.

Anyways, I started out being addicted to detailing cars when I landed a job at a local Mercedes-Benz dealership as a detailer at the young age of 17. I would sit and watch the detailing manager work his magic on those $100k cars and I was in awe. Ever since then, I have been hooked. I have been doing my own vehicles for quite sometime now and have slowly worked my way up to machine polishing. If we catch a slow day at the firehouse, you'll find me detailing our trucks.

Since I am so passionate about vehicles and keeping them spotless, I have decided to start my own detailing business and hopefully this website can continue to keep me on track to doing what's right. I am slowly taking the pointers from Renny's book and applying them to my thought process for this business.

I look forward to interacting with everyone on here and can't wait to share some before and afters. Once this pollen clears out of NC, I've got a 2007 Suburban that's my first client of the new year and I think a one-step process is going to do wonders for his paint. Can't wait to get some photos and hopefully do a well enough job, I get some word of mouth advertising going!

Thanks again,

Mike F.

:welcome:to AGO Mike!

Boy there are a TON of y'all in NC. Make sure you say hi to Dad07 / Tim, he's a great guy! He just sent me a goodie box of freebies this week! :dblthumb2: Got some new 'toys' to try out for sure. ;)

Also I wanna' give ya' props for being a Firefighter. :props:

So.... a 'burb' as your first 'paying' job of the season? That's going in with both feet there buddy. ;) I was at a State Farm mobile catastrophe location today with my father in law. Both of his cars were hail damaged a couple of weeks ago. There was a big black brand new 'burb' sitting there all beat up with hail and I was thinking "BOY am I glad THAT isn't mine!"

So far they have over 12,000 hail cars in this last storm and another one last night. By and large they are doing PDR on all of them. Very very VERY few are getting any body work. I even questioned them on the Sentra (my FIL's) because of the dings on the A pillar because there simply isn't a way to get to the darned thing! Honestly... it needs a new roof skin between the drip rails... but we'll see.

Anywho... :welcome:

Ahhhhh yes there are a lot of us here in NC....... so cool!!!!!

Thanks for the props Tony! just trying to help when and where I can.

Thanks for the warm welcome, guys! I look forward to gaining all sorts of logic from the locals and everyone whenever possible. I'm one of those "hands-on" learners and would love to find someone local that could teach me some stuff.

Welcome, I am from CLT and Pawleys ISland SC also. Worked with CMPD Eastway Division last night. You guys were pretty busy with the rain.

Hit me up, I would be glad to try and help you and give some pointers. I will likely be in CLT next weekend for a week or so.
