Hey everybody!
I've been a long-time lurker and have finally decided to make an account because I feel like I can finally contribute to the knowledge bank here. I picked up a copy of Renny Doyle's book and haven't been able to put it down.
Currently, I'm 23 years old and a full-time firefighter looking to make some extra money on the side and start a mobile detailing business. Most firemen have other jobs on the side that they did long before getting into the fire service, but it has been all I've known.
Anyways, I started out being addicted to detailing cars when I landed a job at a local Mercedes-Benz dealership as a detailer at the young age of 17. I would sit and watch the detailing manager work his magic on those $100k cars and I was in awe. Ever since then, I have been hooked. I have been doing my own vehicles for quite sometime now and have slowly worked my way up to machine polishing. If we catch a slow day at the firehouse, you'll find me detailing our trucks.
Since I am so passionate about vehicles and keeping them spotless, I have decided to start my own detailing business and hopefully this website can continue to keep me on track to doing what's right. I am slowly taking the pointers from Renny's book and applying them to my thought process for this business.
I look forward to interacting with everyone on here and can't wait to share some before and afters. Once this pollen clears out of NC, I've got a 2007 Suburban that's my first client of the new year and I think a one-step process is going to do wonders for his paint. Can't wait to get some photos and hopefully do a well enough job, I get some word of mouth advertising going!
Thanks again,
Mike F.
