My name is Gary and I live in the suburbs of Stuttgart, Germany, close to the Mercedes Benz factory. This is a great forum and I enjoy reading it. My daily driver is a 2006 Volvo C70. My commute to work is unbelievable as I drive over 100 MPH (162KPH), usually with the top down. Its a real blast but the car gets hammered with bugs and, of course, the wheels get a nice coating of brake dust. It interesting that some of the best products in this business come from Germany but some products, like Menzerna (the factory is only 30 minutes from my house), I've never found in an auto store. I got all my detailing equipment from Autogeek, except for the stuff my neighbor gives me from the Mercedes factory (no Menzerna!). Interestingly, MB uses large cotton pads to apply polish/wax. I get a big stack of cotton pads every time he brings something from work. I very happy to be a part of this forum and to learn from you all and maybe I can pass some insight to you, such as the 7424XP runs 15% faster in Europe than in the US. I use a transformer to reduce the voltage from 230 volts to 115 volts but the power here is 50Hz not 60Hz as in the US. This makes the 7424XP run faster. I always run the buffer at one lower setting than what is recommended in order not to burn it up. Enough about me, now I'd like to hear from you. http://www.autogeekonline.net/forum/images/smilies/buffing.gif

:welcome:to the forum. My mother in-law is from a suburb of Stuttgart called Marbach and she was born in Tialfingen. I would love to have the opportunity to drive my Porsche 911 turbo at those speeds (legally) and I to would be driving with the top down as well. Are you a native of Germany?

I been there before, my cousin lives in heidelberg so I took a train there once.

Welcome! I wish we would have no speed limits, 100 MPH sounds nice!

I'm an American that came to work here on a contract 3 years ago. Marbach is about 40 miles north of where I'm at. The Porsche test road (a fully sensored, windy road through the Black Forest) is nearby. A German would rather spend his money on a car than on their house. God love 'em.
