New guy here need a little direction!

I'm Brandon and I've got a 2007 Acura TL Type S in black. I'm new to machine polishing etc...But I've been using a wax spreader for years. My paint has a good amount of light scratches and swirls.

Here's what I purchased yesterday.

G-1016 - Meguiar's Smooth Surface Clay Kit
PB-EXP16 - 16 oz. Poorboy's World EX-P Pure Sealant
Porter Cable 7424XP
BLACKFIRE Scratch Resistant Clear Compound
BLACKFIRE Scratch Resistant Clear Finishing Polish
2 - 5.5 inch Hi-Gloss CCS Orange Light Cutting Pad
2 - 5.5 inch Hi-Gloss CCS White Polishing Pad
2 - 5.5 Inch CCS Gray Smart Pad

I done a lot of lurking and reading here but want to make sure I've got thing's right so I don't do any damage or waste my time.


1 - Start by washing car (I currently use a wash with wax in it, is that okay? If not please suggest something I might pick up localy)

2 - Dry and clay using lubercant.

3 - Test pannel (most likely trunk lid) with CCS White Polishing Pad and BLACKFIRE Scratch Resistant Clear Finishing Polish. If I don't achive disired results move to Hi-Gloss CCS Orange Light Cutting Pad BLACKFIRE Scratch Resistant Clear Compound. Do I need to wet the pad before starting?

4 - If BLACKFIRE Scratch Resistant Clear Compound is used with Orange Light Cutting Pad I will follow with CCS White Polishing Pad and BLACKFIRE Scratch Resistant Clear Finishing Polish and then seal with Poorboy's World EX-P Pure Sealant using 5.5 Inch CCS Gray Smart Pad.

All done?

Can I add Mothers FX Synwax to the top of the Poorboy's World EX-P Pure Sealant?

Any comments would be greatly appreciated. I look forward to learning for everyone. :xyxthumbs:

Won't hurt anything...

2 - Dry and clay using lubercant.

Yep, wash, dry then clay and wipe residue off paint as you work around car.

3 - Test pannel (most likely trunk lid) with CCS White Polishing Pad and BLACKFIRE Scratch Resistant Clear Finishing Polish. If I don't achive disired results move to Hi-Gloss CCS Orange Light Cutting Pad BLACKFIRE Scratch Resistant Clear Compound. Do I need to wet the pad before starting?

Looks good... use the PC on the 6 setting, mark you backing plate and make sure the pad is rotating as you buff. I don't wet my pads except with the product I'm going to use. See these articles,

4 - If BLACKFIRE Scratch Resistant Clear Compound is used with Orange Light Cutting Pad I will follow with CCS White Polishing Pad and BLACKFIRE Scratch Resistant Clear Finishing Polish and then seal with Poorboy's World EX-P Pure Sealant using 5.5 Inch CCS Gray Smart Pad.

All done?

Yes, that should do it. Buffing out an entire car from start to finish will take some time, the longest step is the first correction step.

If you're going to try to do it all in one day then I recommend washing, drying and claying a day or so before so the car is dry and ready to get started on.

Then start early, like start at 8:00am in the morning. Don't mess around, tape off any plastic trim then start on the roof and work your way down. (After your Test Spot).

Another option would be to tackle just portions of the car, like tackle the roof, hood and trunk lid one weekend, driver's side another weekend and passenger side the following weekend, that way you won't rush and you won't get burned out.

Can I add Mothers FX Synwax to the top of the Poorboy's World EX-P Pure Sealant?

Sure!

I like the FX Synwax, I think it's a really nice product.

I feel like I have seen you post this car on Acurazine...maybe im wrong though. I just bought my 2007 ASM TL-S a couple months ago. Either way, looks good and good luck. I just caught onto the higher-end detail bug!

I also have an 07 TL in NBP and I use menzerna pf2500 on a white pad followed by menz sf 4500 on a black or blue pad.

The machine I am using is a flex da.

Mother's Synwax has mild cleaners and would negatively affect the Poorboys sealant. What you can use after PoorBoys is Mother's Reflections Top Coat or their Step #3 Brazilian Carnauba Wax (just to stay within that brand).

I have it listed as a "cleaner/sealant" in this article and I did my best to check with Forrest before placing any of their products into any of the categories.
