Hi everyone,
My name is Lee Hildebrand and I hail from Pa. I have a 2007 Mustang Gt conv. I bought new and of course,it's BLACK. I guess you figured out now why I joined your site, I will be needing some good advice on how to keep Black looking show condition. I have restored 7 first gen. Mustangs in my time, as well as owned many show cars. I am 53 now, and retired 3 years ago from drag racing and restoration. This said, I am, as my wife says, very anal with the details of a car. This Mustang had some issues with the paint from new as well as having me as the owner, I am not happy with the paint.
I just bought the P/C 7424XP with the starter kit from AutoGeek, but have not used it yet. Got to go for now, but hope to get in touch with you all out there.

Sounds like you've had a lot of fun with Mustangs over the years! I'm more of a Chevy guy, at least when it comes to engines but I love the 1965, 1966 and 1967 Fastback Models, I think they're one of the best looking body styles ever to drive down the road. It's one of those body styles that make the car look like it's moving even when they're standing still.

You've purchased a very good tool, it has the ability to tackle most correction work that the majority of people will ever need and want to do, all you need now is to get the technique down for using it along with the right pads and chemicals.

As with most procedures, either by hand or machine, it's the technique, or way you use it that will have the greatest effect on your final results.

You'll be happy to hear that the clear coat on these mustangs (factory) is not that hard to work with. You either have soft, medium, or hard clear coats. Ford uses a medium type of CC that a PC and a light cutting pad with something like Menzerna Super Intensive Polish (or the like) will correct 99% of. A light cutting pad and SIP corrected about 97% of my mustangs CC. The Fusions CC is the same.
