Detailing is a nice hobby to have and many here are just like you taking care of their own personal vehicles.
Having a Porter Cable 7424 dual action polisher, Lake Country pads, and Prima products are certainly a nice way to enter the race!

Black is one of those colors that can cause one to obsess over it as it shows EVERYTHING!
Paint correction can be as simple or as time consuming as "you" make it but you'll set your own personal goals as to how defect free you want your finish.
Some choices to think about
All in one / 1-Step products
all in one polish, car polish wax, cleaner wax, best car wax polish, Klasse All In One, one step polish wax, AIO wax, AIO paint sealant
These do a reallt nice job at removing most minor surface defects leafing the surface with a deep shine and some protection to boot!
Compounds and Polishes
Traditional compounds and polishes are the multistage approach and allow the detailer many choices in terms of cut and gloss for the ultimate defect removal. The Menzerna line is among my personal favorites!
Swirl Removers, Compounds & Car Polishes: remove swirls with swirl mark removers, scratch removers, spiderwebs, car polish, rubbing compound,
Sealants
Sealants are synthetic waxes and provide a great shine with long term protection and durability.
Paint Sealants like Klasse, Wolfang Deep Gloss Paint Sealant
Waxes
Traditional waxes many prefer because they give the finish more depth than a sealant alone. I like to apply a sealant and after buffing wait 12 hours for it to cure then apply a coat of wax.
Collinite 845 is one of my favorites for adding both a wet shine with added durability .
