Ok so im new to the site, I have been cleaning and detailing cars and such for a few years. Mainly just for friends. Well people have throw the idea at me about maybe starting a mobile business to make extra income. After thinking about it I want to give it a shot. I do pretty good work I have been told granted I still have a lot to learn. So with some research I have made up a possible price list. Also I live in the Marland area, so please pick it apart and let me know what I need to maybe adjust. Any input would be great, thanks..

I've seen better prices and worse prices. $160 for a clay/wax for your superior package? I don't know if many folks bite at that.

However some prices for your lesser services seem under priced.

I suggest picking up Rennys book and exploring some more gauge who you want to target and build a business plan. Being successful at this is more than just a price list!

Also you lost me at "armor all type stuff"

Good luck!

I think you may have your packages broken down in an odd way. You should probably simplify and start off with package 1 being a wash, dry, exterior glass cleaned, trim and tires dressed, package 2 being a full exterior detail including wax or sealant, package 3 full exterior with a one step light correction / polish, and then maybe do add on's from there to include interior package, full corrections, coatings, etc.

And yea, never mention ruinall, I mean armor none, I mean armor all ever again! Pour that stuff in a toilet, flush it twice, and melt the bottle! Lol! :-)

Welcome to the forum!

Now onto you question:

First your prices are very low IMO. Secondly, do you have insurance? If not this is a must if your going to run a legitimate business and touch other people's vehicles and doing work on them. One mistakes can ruin you if you have none and now a days people are sue happy.

What area are you trying to go for high end, daily drivers, soccer moms, etc? Knowing your market and what you want to shoot for is key then price yourself from what you want to work with.

How many detailers on in your area? Knowing this will help you because if you have a flooded market of detailers everyone is fighting for customers and usually prices are lower in flooded markets and it will be harder for someone new like yourself to start out.

Have you priced your competition? Knowing what they other guys is charging is a good idea. Now this is not to say go out and look at what they are charging and you do the same and replicate the menu. This will help you see what the average rate is.

What will make you different from your competition? Why would I want to go to you over the guy down the street? What makes you better than him? Knowing what will separate you from the other guys will help you bring in customers to you.

Don't sell yourself short and don't give away your services.

I would pick up Renny Doyles book How to start a home based detailing business

I would also pick up Mike Phillips How to book as well.

One think I can say is train, train, train, read, read, read and repeat.

I hope I helped certainly not here to scare you off there are thing that go unlooked and it can be very rewarding but it take work and dedication

Welcome! Not sure where you are at or how many detailers there are in your area but your superior package (imo) is extremely low. An interior alone can take 6 hours plus to clean right. Don't kid yourself, people don't usually bring well maintained things to detailers. They bring things like coffee and juice spilled between the seat and console that requires seat removal to get all the stink out. :)

Ok thanks for the input everyone, Ill work on it more and also check into that book.
