New Jersey and/or Poorboy's Meet

A bunch of us New Jersey members would like to organize some sort of local meet/get-together. The ideal thing would be at some venue where we could have access to water and power (and shade?), so that people could come, wash their cars, and see some products/polishing/etc. This would ideally be done at a car dealer or garage where there is room for a number of cars, and access to water and power (and perhaps wash/service bays for inside detailing). The idea would be for people who haven't done any machine polishing could see/try a machine, members could try products/techniques they haven't, etc.

Does anyone have any connections to a venue such as that? Alternatively, we could just try for some sort of parking lot meetup, to just look at cars, shoot the breeze, etc.

OR--Poorboy usually has a detail day or two a year at his place in Nyack, NY. Steve? Pockets? Plans for this year? The only negatives to that is it's a little far for some of our NJ members, and Steve (rightly so) only allows Poorboy's products at his detail days (leave your other products at home).

So, any ideas/thoughts on this?
 
The Poorboy's detail weekend is a good time, if you haven't gone or want to get some hands on time with rotary or DA polishing there are many helpful experienced people that show up there who will guide a newbie through their first rotary polishing, headlight restoration etc. etc.

I have attended a few of Steve's events and would again but the longer I detail for a living the busier I get and will likely not be able to attend.

I'd really like to put together a detailer's meet and greet type day here in south central PA too. Sounds like fun. Good luck putting it together.
 
I would def come to one of these meet. I just got a new DSLR so I can take some nice pictures.
 
You stole my idea! lol JK. I'm subscribing to this. I wouldn't mind coming down for a meet with all the NJ guys if I can make it!

Every year I try and get something going (on a different forum in previous years) and every year...nothing happens. Years ago the a local detailing supply shop and Meg's distributor hosted a Meg's detailing day/class in the morning...and the afternoon was more of a freestyle event like I'm thinking of, but he doesn't seem interested anymore.

There's always Phil at DD who has had open-houses, and there is a guy with a detailing shop down at the other end of the state who has also done that.

LOL I'm just giving you a hard time. I'm sure this has come up multiple times by many people.

Definitely interested and will keep up on it. It's a decent drive for me and I'd have to get a hotel some where, but we'll see.
 
I am totally in for a meet and detail in Jersey. I have been looking to get together with some of the more experienced folks as I am looking into possibly opening up my own detailing business....in the summers anyway. I am down....just let me know where and I am in there like swimwear!

That's the problem, we don't have a "where"...Slickooz, how about while you're asking your boss at the Lexus dealer for a raise, ask him if you can have the run of the dealership on a Sunday to bring a bunch of people you don't know there :D

EDIT: Part of the problem with these things (as Poorboy Steve has made us painfully aware) is you plan them out and get tons of people on the forum to say they'll come, and then on the day--hardly anyone shows up.
 
LOL I don't think this will ever happen. But is there someone with a full mobile rig so we can use maybe water and power? Then we can prob have a meet at some park.

I'm in, depending on date/location, I will keep an eye on this thread...
 
Whats going on? Where are all these NJ people? If there is any lurkers in NJ register so we can have a big meet somewhere.
 
Maybe we can see if we can rent a couple wash bays at those touchless car wash places. There is one in EB, I'll ask if we can rent 2 bay at night. It's pretty dead so if we all chip in some we can get something rolling.
