What's the best stuff to use to clean and condition the seats? I don't know if it is actually leather or leatherette.

There is no best product. But everyone has their favorites. I prefer leather masters

It's leatherette so you don't need a leather specific cleaner or conditioner.

Agreed. Meg's qid for cleaning and a vinyl protectant if you'd like. I use vinylx ever few months. V tex is good stuff. Holds up well.

I use OPC at 5:1, spray and lather with a brush to clean. Then I use either carpro PERL, really because it beads water so nicely, or I've been using autoglym vinyl and rubber protectant.

With the autoglym, you can adjust how much sheen/shine you receive by the amount of time between application and wipe off.

Thanks everyone, Now my next question is I am going to do the Wolfgang 3.0 Swirl remover, and 3.0 Finishing glaze. I have a bright red Jetta and I have some Collinite insulator wax as my sealant. Can you recommend a better sealer that would last long and work well with the Wolfgang stuff?

I use wg sealant and it works well. many other products out there.

How long does the WG last before needing to be applied again?

I applied it to my Jetta for first time last fall. It def needs done again, so I suppose 4-5 months. Water still beads but not like it did right after app. Just keep it away from any dark plastic areas as it is near impossible to get off of them (tape them up).

My passat has vinyl seats, but with newer leather coated seats I treat them the same anyway. Just clean and protect with your favorite water based dressing. I particularly pay attention to keep dirt out of the seams.
My VW sits outside 24/7. Last year for winter I used Collonite 845 this year I used WDGPS and have been happy. Since it's cold now I normally try to get in a DG rinseless wash with AW as weather permits.
