New Member detailing for fun

Hello everyone. I recently purchased a Black 2010 Camaro 2SS RS. I purchased the car on a sunny day and looked for scratches and swirls. I was suprised to find none. The car had to have been sitting on the lot for a few months. The dealer offered to "detail" the car after purchase and I said NO! Our salesman was suprised but after I explained about the swirls he understood.

After having the car for two weeks I detailed it by hand

1. Washed it with Meguiars Gold Class Shampoo
2. Clayed it with Meguiars clay and quick detailer
3. Hand applied Pinnacle Paint Clensing Lotion
3. Hand applied Meguiars Mirror Glaze #20 Paint Sealant (let cure for over 12 hours in garage)
4. Hand applied Pinnacle Souveran paste wax

Every week I wash the car (two bucket method with grit guard) and apply either Meguiars Ultimate Detailer Spray or Meguiars Ultimate Quick Wax.

This is our everday car that is garage kept when not parked at work.

I am interested in others opinions to keeping this car looking great.

This is and "Introduction Forum", that is when you join you start a thread introduce yourself. Normally you want to post "how-to" questions in a forum like Detailing 101 or the Introduction Forum becomes Detailing 101

That said, the most important thing you can do to make sure your flawless finish stays flawless is exactly what you're already doing.

"Find something you like and use it often"

Besides that, make sure everything that physically touches the car is of the highest quality you can obtain. Clearcoat paints are what are called scratch-sensitive, that is they scratch really easy and then getting the scratches out, without putting scratches in during the process is harder than most people expect, especially if they're working by hand.

So keep up the maintenance program you have in place and since your car is parked outside while you're at work, after washing or wiping the paint clean, periodically feel the horizontal surfaces to check for above surface bonded contaminants and if discovered, remove using detailing clay.

I guess the grass IS greener on the other side.
You pine for the Camaro you can't get over there while a good number of us over here would love to get a hold of some Holden products (Ones that haven't been uglified, that is) over here.:laughing:
