Hello everyone!

Just wanted to say hi!
just started detailing and now i am addict.
I have a PC 7424 and a lot of pads.
I just started on my 98 M3. It AW and has tons of swirls.
I am using the XMT series . So far #3 with a 4inch orange pad speed 5,
then #1 with 5.5 inch white pad speed 4. I know i need to brake down the product and it should take no more the 10 min. but it seem to take longer. It looks alot better then the other half but i can still see some fine swirls.
I have done this twice and spent about 3 hours just on half the truck lid. Am i doing something wrong? Am i using too much product? Should i us speed 6? and then 5?
Should i go with a yellow pad with the #3 and speed 5?
I will post some pic tomorrow.
BUt for now, Since most of then are gone i don't want to go more aggressive? Can i do #1 with a yellow pad or orange pad?
Any help would be great.

TIA

:welcome: I am at about the same point you are, so I cannot offer much more than: do a search on the forums and somewhere the answers will pop up. There are a LOT of opinions on pads. :( One thing I learned is to work a small area, no more than about 16-18" square. When you get a light dusting, the stuff is pretty well broken down. I've been working on my old Benz for a while now, and removing the swirls is going to take a long time with my orbital...but I'm not ready for rotary! Good luck and keep the faith.

Thanks for the info, I have had better luck with the yellow pad, and a little more pressure. So you don't think it the products? or the PC.
It just seem to take forever to break down, I don't know it my arm can take it.

You might want to ask this in the detailing forum. Most people won't look in this section to answer you question.
Are you using too much product? I use 3 small dots on the edges of the pad. You can use speed 6. As for the XMT products. I don't use those. But others do, so post this up in the other forum.
