Hi all - I have driven by Autogeek on the turnpike a million times but as I had a super old beat up commuting car I didn't give detailing it much thought.

My wife finally made me get a new car. I just picked up a black 2015 Ford Fusion.

I see the pictures on here of people with "liquid" black paint and I would like to get a keep look on my car... knowing that I can't make this a part-time job.

I guess I don't know where to start.

I don't want to pay someone to keep my car nice, but I am a pilot so I am not home all of the time and my car is in the elements for days on end.

I am curious to hear what all of your suggestions are:
Hand vs orbital
Wax vs sealant
etc.

I am not wanting a show car, but I do want to do it right.

I look forward to your input.

Black paint is more than a part time job it's a full time job.

I have a black garage queen and it gets just dusty sitting in the garage. I just bought a new daily driver a couple months ago, it's white. :dblthumb2:

In Florida with all the summer rain your car will be dirty all the time, it's just the way it is. The more you wash it the more you'll mar the paint no matter how careful you are, two bucket wash method etc.

On a daily driver I'd go with either Blackfire or Wg 3.0 sealant as it attracts less dust and holds up very well in our climate.

At a minimum invest in a GG6 DA you're going to need it.

Wow Beautiful work!!

Thanks Kam. The neighbors laugh at use because with my wifes hand me down Altima to our daughter and her new Sonata we have 3 white cars in the driveway. With good reason too. A black car in the "sunshine state" that gets parked outside 24/7 365 has a short paint life span no matter what you do to it. I can walk out in the middle of the day and put my hand on my Rouge and keep it there. 5 minutes of my being GC outside and it will blister your hand.

Thanks all... yeah it will be garage parked and I guess I could be "that guy" who puts a cover over it when it sits at the airport for 3-4 days on end.
