Hi

My name is Elee, and I am new member . I hope to learn from members of this forum. I wanted to ask what wax do I need to use on a brand new 2012 BMW X5, Platinum Gray color. There are so many products and brands , I wanted to use the right wax to protect the paint on my car.
Also, I would appreciate any advice on what else to use, and how soon should I wax my new car?

Asking what wax to use is like asking what is your favorite food. You will get about as many different suggestions as people who reply to this thread.

You could probably help us help you by telling us what is important to you. Is it durability, making the gray pop, ease of use, etc., etc. How much $$ do you want to spend? Waxes and sealants run the cost spectrum for fairly inexpensive to uber expensive so knowing the price range can help narrow the selections down.

For my go to wax that is not durable in the least but makes the metallic red Vette I own pop -- Pinnacle Souveran without a doubt. It's easy to apply, easy to remove but again I do not care one iota about durability, at least for this vehicle.
 
I'd take that a little further, in that "protect[ing] the paint on my car" goes further than what wax, it goes into how you intend to maintain the cleanliness, etc. It doesn't matter what "wax" you use if poor wash habits will damage the finish, etc.

I actually had a coworker buy a new car and ask me for some tips...and I pretty much point-blank told him he didn't want any advice from me because he wasn't going to take the time required...and he saw the logic in that after I explained it to him.

It makes sense to understand how a person is going to take care of it going forward.

By asking the question I assumed and hope the OP is planning on doing a decent (or better) job of taking care of their beautiful X5 going forward.

This is the intro forum. You'll tend to get a lot more and a lot better answers to your questions if you take and copy and paste your questions about your detailing project and then start a dedicated thread for how-to questions in a forum group for how-to questions instead of tagging them onto your intro thread.

Good questions... as for the last one... sooner would be better than later...

A resh coat of wax not only makes your car look great it ensures a uniform layer of protection for the paint surface.
