Hello,

I am a new member here. I recently purchased a 2015 Subaru WRX. I am not a subie fanboy by any means, I just felt that this was would be a fun car to drive as a daily driver, especially being AWD which helps in Chicago. For my budget this is my 60K + car and I have been reading like crazy on this forum to put together a list of proper products to keep my car in the best shape as possible. I already have had the entire car opti-coated as well as Xpel clear bra on select parts of the car. Obviously because I had the xpel put on, I will not be putting my car through normal carwashes unless its either a hand wash or a touchless wash system. I figured now would be the time to enter in the detailing world of maintaining my vehicle.

I am looking forward to being apart of this forum to learn from other members.

Welcome! There is a lot of good information here.

Well I bite the bullet this evening and made my purchases to start my detailing and maintaining my vehicle. Because my car is opti-coat with a thick ceramic clear cloat, I don't really need anything that will strip lsp or anything crazy like that. My opti-coat installer said i don't even need to really wax the car, since the opicoat protects the paint, I just need to handwash the car to keep it looking at the pictures above.

Here's my starter kit for now. Hopefully I made the right choices

2 Bucket wash system: Still looking for buckets at my local stores that will work with the Gritguard properly. I am waiting for the grit guards to arrive to test the buckets before I buy them.

Wash pad/mit: Adams wash pads
Reason: I really wasn't sure what to go with, I just felt that Adam's has a good choice to go with.

5 Gritguards: 2 x 4 Bucket system and one gritguard for the wheel/tire bucket.

Shampoo: Hyperwash (Reason: Has the one of best dilution to price ratio and I don't need anything to strip lps or too harsh as the opti-coat does most of the work)

Detail Spray:Optimum 32oz Instant Retailer Spray
Reason: Wanted to go with Adam's but decided to go to go with the optimum's because the 32oz can be diluted to make up a Gallon of detailing spray.

Drying Towel: 3 pack of Cobra Guzzler HD Waffle Weave 16X24

Glass Towel: Auto Geek's 3 pack Waffle Weave Glass Towel

Glass Cleaner: Stoners Invisible

Interior cleaner for Dash and leather seats: Optimum Protectant Plus

Wheels: Adam's Complete wheel kit (Deep wheel Cleaner, APC, Tire shire) + Wheel woodie and applicator.
Reason: I got kind of lazy searching for wheel and all purposes cleaners, so this kit seem to be worth a shot

Mothers Fender/wheel brush and tire brush.

Other: Regular Walmart Microfiber towels for interior cleaning.

Home made Undercarriage PVC washer: Pretty sweet for $10.00 to make

Bill. yes I was going to test the Home Depot buckets as well. I did see different reviews where one person said the grit guard spun like crazy in HD bucket and then I see other reviews that it works fine. If it spins then the bucket is slightly too big. I also read that harbor freight has buckets that work as well. Once I get the guards I will check out the buckets.
